I'm selling my loaded out. pristine. low mileage 1971 Grabber Yellow Mach I. This car came from the factory with many cool options. like Grabber Yellow paint. air conditioning. a fold down rear seat. deluxe seat belts. and the infamous M-Code 351 Cleveland 4 barrel engine. For those who don't know. the M-Code motor was the highest horsepower version of the 351. just next to the Boss 351 engine. The M-Code option included competition suspension (just like the Boss 351 and 429 cars) with staggered rear shocks. heavy duty front and rear springs and shocks. and front and rear sway bars. M-code cars are worth way more than H-code (351C 2V) or F-code (302) cars. The advantage of the M-Code cars over the Boss 351 cars or the 429SCJ cars is that air conditioning was available as a factory option. A/C is a must have option if you live here in the sweltering heat and humidity of Birmingham. Alabama like I do! This car was sold new in southern California and lived there until the mid 90's when it moved to Arizona. I bought the car from a man who was believed to be the third owner. When I bought the car it still wore its' original paint. This car has never had any rust or collision repair. Every single piece of sheet metal is original to the car. even the front and rear valances. This car was so unmolested when I acquired it. it even had its' original "born with" factory dual exhaust! Even the rear exhaust tips had never been changed. I resisted the temptation of swapping the exhaust out for a new reproduction setup. even though it would have made the underside of the car look much prettier. When I was 17 (in 1977) I bought my first 1971 Mach I. and the first thing I did was take a hack saw to the exhaust and swap it out for a set of cherry bombs and some headers. Luckily. the prior owners of this car left the exhaust alone. As testimony to the rust free status of the car. you can see in the pics that the car even has its' original quarter panel drain plugs. with no signs of rust or repair. I treated the car to a $7. 00. 00 show quality paint job in the original color with the correct side stripes and hood patch. The gaps on the car line up better than when the car was new. and the doors and deck lid close with a finger. The glass is absolutely beautiful. I replaced the original windshield as it was a little hazy. The moldings around the doors. windshield. and back glass are original and in great shape. The bumpers are new. I spent a lot of time and money detailing the car and fixing a lot of little things. The interior door panels and seat covers are original. I repaired some worn areas on the seats and laid down a coat of vinyl dye. The seats look really nice for being 44 years old. I could have swapped out the seat covers. but that would have taken away from the originality of the car. The old guys call it "patina. " The original deluxe seat belts are in excellent condition. The carpet. dash pad. sun visors. visor brackets. and headliner are new. Everything on the car works as it should. even the dash clock. the seat belt warning light. and the parking brake "on" light. The engine bay. front suspension. and trunk are highly detailed. The space saver spare is an NOS 15" Goodyear unit. The jack. handle. bolt. nut. and (empty) canister are correct for the car. I replaced the shocks. front suspension. rear springs. bushings. and rear brakes. The front brakes have about 30% life left. I installed an eccentric eliminator kit so the car will never "jump" out of alignment. This is the smoothest and quietest big body Mustang I have ever driven. The steering is tight and the car tracks straight down the road. There are no squeaks. bumps. or rattles of any kind. I replaced the door and trunk weatherstrip along with the window felts. The car rides on brand new 15" Magnum 500 chrome wheels and 60 series Firestone Firehawk radials. The car retains its' original "born with" numbers matching drive-train. I "freshened up" the motor with new bearings. seals. a true roller timing chain and a high pressure/high volume oil pump. The car runs like new. I replaced the fuel pump. water pump. starter. solenoid. alternator. and voltage regulator. The radiator is original. The carburetor is an NOS correct Holley replacement. I swapped the distributor for a new Mallory Unilite unit for increased dependability. The transmission was serviced and shifts great. The back tires even chirp when the car shifts into second gear under hard acceleration. The car runs smooth with lots of torque and great acceleration. All of the belts and hoses are correct reproduction replacements. The factory A/C blows ICE COLD. It's converted over to R-134a. The compressor. condenser. and dryer are new.
