Description of 1973 Ford Mustang Coupe |
The High School Graduation Present you should have got in 1973 - now you can buy it for yourself. Runs and drives. It is in almost as good shape as this picture makes it look. Original paint. interior. 351 Cleveland 2V engine. FMX 3 speed trans. I've been working on updating / restoring it. so it has had a bunch of money put into it. but I haven't finished. It has a few needs to meet my original goal. and this is a list of some (not all) of what's gone into it already. Partial list of upgrades and repairs: Edelbrock RPM dual plane intake Edelbrock 650 carb. Dual Flowmaster mufflers (on stock headers - I'd replace it) New wheels and Tires New Shocks New Leaf Springs Full front end suspension and steering rebuild and alignment New freeze plugs Alternator Coil Plugs and wires Pertronix Ignition Power steering pump Heater Coil Many other unlisted repairs and upgrades (all receipts included) What I would do if I were keeping it. (To put it back to 1973+3. and make it completely roadworthy) Paint refresh (two small rust spots in corners of rear window to repair before paint. ) Brake adjustments Interior seat upholstery (it's ok for the age though) door cards and 1 armrest. maybe both. window regulator and door locks repairs/replace rear inside plastic panel repairs (OK. but dried. a bit broken and not perfect) headliner replacement new door and window seals carpet dye - or replacement - its a bit faded here and there. heater box replacement (found it broken when I was replacing the heater core - $285 replacement) Original A/C recharge. maybe repairs. Replace original Power Steering with aftermarket unit (these always sucked - input hose leaks) Exhaust headers and new exhaust pipes (from Chris and Fred @ Scottsdale muffler) what's in it is pretty cheesy. but it has nice muffler$ and tips. Engine Rebuild (approximately $1300 if you pull it. (it has about 80K miles on the engine. and I found about that much wear when I replaced the rear main seal. ) Mild cam and probably a lifter kit. maybe the whole valve train. (you will break it if you go with a wild cam. ) Replace mildly cracked dash pad. maybe the steering wheel. though it's fine. I hate the stock one. Reinstall original (I have it) pushbutton AM radio and speaker with a hidden audio system Detailing If I had the time. I would do just that. I am buying a new largecar though. and am working too much. Time to let Althea go. fun as she's been. (This car is the same color as the original Eleanor movie car. like that matters. ) I'm open to reasonable. respectful offers. It's not priced to flip. it's priced for someone who WANTS it. so "flippers" should probably look elsewhere unless they think there's money to be made at close to my price. I'm perfectly willing to keep it until I can spend more time on it. I actually like this old car.
