Description of 1985 Ford E-Series Van |
This is a 1985 Ford Centurion conversion van/truck. professionally converted from an E350 van to a stretched wheelbase vehicle with buckets up front. nbsp; a rear fold-down seat convertible to a bed. a pickup truck bed out back. and a dually rear axle; for a tow truck with sleeping capabilities. These were made by several conversion shops at the time. I believe this conversion was done in the Georgia shop. History: I purchased this truck from it's Georgia owner in 2002. It was used as a tow truck to haul his trailer and race car to events - he would sleep in the truck while at the track. return home after the event. When he sold off his race car. I bought the truck. I used it to tow a horse trailer to various shows in the south. and was unhappy with it's fuel consumption (typically 8 mpg) and lack of gears to deal with grades. I added a gear vendors electric overdrive behind the 3 speed C6 automatic. which now gave me 6 speeds ahead to better deal with hills. but the fuel improvement wasn't much. and so I decided to convert the vehicle from it's original 460 gas V8 to a Dodge Cummins 12 valve diesel. At the time. most Dodge Cummins trucks were getting teens to low 20's for mileage. made reasonable power. it seemed a better way to go. I began the engine conversion in '04. and had most of the exhaust and intake piping and some of the motor mounting done. when a family crisis came up. and I put the vehicle into storage in a fully enclosed barn with no windows. It has been there ever since. and it is obvious to me that not only will I never finish it. I don't even need it any more. the horse days are history. And so it's going. and all the parts with it. for someone to finish it up and put it on the road once more. I won't separate any of it. I want it all out of here for room for other work. so everything I'm listing below goes: So here's what the winning bidder gets:* The van/truck: It's totally rust-free. a southern truck. It has a clean Florida title. super low miles (88. 70. believed to be true). It's clean. never abused. The original paint is still decent. it will likely buff up reasonably well; it's had no UV exposure while stored in the barn. * The original Ford 460 V8 with Edelbrock Performance aluminum manifold and Holley 4 bbl. This is a reliable. nbsp; powerful runner. * A Dodge Cummins 6 cyl. 12 valve turbodiesel. purchased from a salvage yard in Ocala. Fl. I was told it came from a low mileage wreck on the interstate. I've never seen it run. as much as I know. * The original C6 3 speed automatic mated to a Gear Vendors overdrive. I used this for about two years with the 460. the xmission shifts firmly. no slip; and the overdrive unit has never given me any issues. worked well. This combination of 6 speeds was very helpful with hills as well as cruising. * A new (at the time) Decelerator 4" exhaust brake. installed. * FordCummins engine adapters from FordCummins in Montana. (see products on their website). Also a low stall speed torque converter for diesel. * And many. many other parts (intercooler. oil. transmission fluid coolers. etc. etc). too many to list individually. Not shown in the photos are these items. which also include bumper. grill. nbsp; front buckets. etc. The photos are all within the last month. this is how it looks today. It has never been out in the weather. I pulled it out for photos. then put it back in the barn. PAYMENT DETAILS. INSPECTIONS.
