Description of 1956 Ford Thunderbird

1956 Ford Thunderbird You are viewing and exceptional and high quality no cost spared restoration. The car is close to flawless in it fit and finish and was built to drive and enjoy. The restoration started in 2006 and finished in late 2007. Built by Prestige in Santa Fee Springs CA which are known for very high end Thunderbird restorations. The car has been driven 3K miles and looks like it was finished in the last 6 months. Exceptionally clean and detailed. The project started as a very clean no rust and dry California car to begin with and no accidents. Original California plates come with the car.

Please read on for more particulars of the car: Body/Paint: The body is all Henry Ford steel. The body work was minimal due to the quality of the car to begin with. The original color was white. It was decided to paint the car in Marooca Orange which is a red with an orange hue. The color is very close to Raven red used on the 53 Olds Fiesta convertible. Very period correct looking for the era. Base/clear no metallic. The paint is near perfect and breath taking. Wet sanded to a flat finish and buffed to a high gloss. The continental kit is beautiful with the trunk fully detailed with original jack and handle.

Interior: The original color was red. It was decided to do a custom color semi mat red to compliment the paint. The two together very much complement each other and looks stunning. Comes across as looking factory and it should have been knowing how beautiful this car is. Even though the color is custom the design is stock as original. Vintage Air AC was added for comfort and blows cold. Power windows power seat tach. Everything works on the car.

Tops:New soft top framewith a tan cloth used in place of the original material. Shows very nice and is detailed and super clean like the rest of the car. The original hardtop is painted the body color and is completely restored.

Running Gear: The engine is the optional 312 completely restored using a modern Holley carb for reliability. The ignition has an electronic module replacing the points which was used again for reliability. An alternator was used rather than the original generator for reliability. You could eat off the engine compartment it is so clean. The transmission is original and restored and works as it should. The rear end is completely restored.

Suspension: The frame and entire suspension is restored and powered coated. Super clean and professionally detailed. The underside is as nice as the top.

Bright work: All bright work stainless or chrome is restored and in stunning condition.

Glass: All glass replaced.

Exhaust: Restored as stock with the exception of the tail pipes exiting out the rear rather than through the sides of the rear bumper. This was done to help keep the chrome nice.

Brakes: Restored and using disc brakes on the front for safety and reliability. Stops excellent. Drum rear.

Wheels/Tires: The wheels and hub caps are stock with Coker Classic 205/75-15 radials used offering a better driving experience.

Items non stock on the build for comfort safety and reliability: Modern AC alternator Holley carb electronic ignition front disc brakes and radial tires.

Summary: The car runs and drives excellent and is a show piece. The color combo along with top is stunning. This car needs nothing and is ready to be enjoyed by a new owner.
