Description of 1946 Ford Other |
NO RESERVE. We purchased this truck as a parade vehicle in 1992. It went through a complete frame-off restoration in time to celebrate our Company’s 50th anniversary in 1996. It has only been used for parades and home shows since and has always been garaged. This truck began life as a farm vehicle in Michigan made its way to West Virginia and then to us here in Iowa.I have been told that this vehicle is a precursor to the F-1 the tag in the glove box (see pic) says it's a model 69Y(?) with a GVW of 6600 lbs. It has 84961 original miles and is as close to perfect as anything can be at 69 years of age. All the wood except the bed has been replaced with full-dimensional lumber and has been treated with marine-style stain and varnish. The vehicle is completely stock including its 6 volt electrical system. The paint scheme is also correct however the colors are not. It does have a couple of paint chips which are shown in the pictures. It also leaks a very small amount of oil probably from non use. Power is derived from its 100 horsepower flathead V8 mated to a 4 speed manual transmission with a granny low gear. This truck runs and drives like new. Please contact me if you have any other questions. $1000 down payment due within 48 hours of auction end with the remainder in 7 days. Shipping to be the responsibility of the buyer. The truck could be driven however it has a top speed of about 50 mph and rides like a “lumber wagon”. Enjoy the pictures. |
