Description of 1965 Ford Mustang GT |
Up for sale is a true original Factory GT Mustang Fastback that has been fully restored. This GT came out of the Metuchen NJ plant on June 29th 1965 as a “Customer Order” Vintage Burgundy GT Fastback. This is documented by the buck tag that is on the opposite (passenger) side from the stamped VIN number. Metuchen is the only plant that placed buck tags on the Mustangs produced in 1965 and the buck tag has the “PI” code for Performance Image that signifies a Factory GT optioned Mustang. The buck tag also has the C/O (looks like a % symbol) on the upper left side of the tag which signifies “Customer Order” which means a special order Mustang built with the customer requested options. Buck Tag Data: http://kcode.net/bucktags.htm This is a numbers matching date correct Mustang with all of the GT options to include; quick ratio steering larger diameter sway bar upgraded suspension single “cone style” master cylinder front disc brakes with 4 piston calipers dual exhaust with mounting brackets through the rear floor pan GT fog lamps with punched holes for the wiring harness correct fog lamp switch that turns on the fog lamps and rear running lights and trumpet exhaust. Confirm a Factory GT Mustang: http://www.cjponyparts.com/tech-real-gt/a/137/ For safety and performance the following items have been replaced: Single master cylinder for dual master cylinder (I have the original master cylinder) Original steering for new Flaming River (I have the original) Trumpets for polished round exhaust – I did not like the restricted air flow and sound from the originals. Cast iron intake for an Edlebrock intake (I have the original intake with the aluminum date tag) Original heads for Patriot Aluminum heads (I have the original heads) C4 transmission for an AOD transmission (I have the original transmission) Original carburetor for an Edlebrock 600 (I have the original) Cast iron exhaust manifolds for Hedman Headers (I have a set of HiPo style exhaust manifolds) Original block bored .30 over professionally rebuilt in 2012 with new aluminum intake and heads new carburetor Pertronix ignition altenator regulator Sanden AC compressor idle compensator for AC aluminum valve covers and air cleaner starter coil aluminum radiator battery and other new components. New upper and lower control arms performance bushing kit coil and leaf springs and front and rear shocks. Completely rebuilt power brakes with new master cylinder booster calipers drums (rear) rotors (front) and pads. Everything is new; dash pad headliner front and rear fold down seats carpet door panels kick panels handles lights etc. The original cowls were cut out and new ones welded in – no patch work. Complete new floors – the front passenger’s side had rust due to the leaky cowl so I replaced the entire floor pan. Front and rear frame rails are absolutely perfect with original factory undercoating. The underside of the car was also sprayed with a sealant for added protection. New doors and deck lid. The Mustang was stripped sand and media blasted and has zero rust. Sound proofing and insulation was added throughout the car. The Mustang was base coat/clear coat painted with all PPG products in the original Vintage Burgundy and black interior. All body panels are exceptionally straight and body lines are as tight as you will find on any vintage Mustang. New tires and American Racing wheels with two center cap options; aluminum GT and American Racing caps. Original glass All new exterior chrome; bumpers gas cap light bezels handles etc. The complete restoration was documented with photos and I have receipts. |
