Description of 1963 Ford Thunderbird |
View pictures for condition. I purchased this car 7 years ago with the intent of restoring it but other projects got ahead of it. I started it a few times a year and drove it a short distance then parked it again every year. It sat either covered or in a pole barn most the time i had it. Some floor and trunk panels needed someone caved and paved and got generous with the bondo on the fender and rear wheel wells doors open and close correctly no body sags Starts up and runs and drives I drove it over 100+ miles last spring to where it is now after it needed to be moved again it developed a drip at the fuel pump and my friend tried to tune it up better fixed vacuum leaks new distributor rebuilt starter but still seems weak rebuilt holley carb. It still needs a bit of tuning. Trans shifts nice spare trans in trunk if you want it exhaust was done at some point before I bought it story was the engine was rebuilt but I can't verify that she puffs a bit white and black now from sitting so much not sweet like antifreeze or blue like oil so probably rich or valves the tires were newer off of another vehicle I had but a bit small the power steering and brakes work but the steering tends to wander a bit and all the shocks are shot has the 3.00 gears and it really cruised and flew on the highway but was a real handful at high speeds when i first got it she really wanted to fly. Has the swing away steering column. The neutral switch is finnicky the wipers and charging system works. One brake light is out so it needs a turn signal switch. Windshield is cracked. Door panels dash pad interior patch panels can all be catalog ordered for this car. The headliner is falling down. The drivers seat cover is bad. Rear seat and passenger seat good. If it was not salvageable I would have already added that sweet 390 thunderbird FE driveline to my collection of hotrod parts but I think it's worthwhile project to someone with more energy than I have these days. It has a Minnesota title in my name with collector plates. The car is located just outside Alexandria MN halfway between fargo and minneapolis close to interstate 94. Monday through Thursday it will possibly be available to inspectbut by appointment only. We will work with making it readily available for your shipper if necessary. I have drove it I could probably tinker on it put a fuel pump in and drive it home 2 hours but that is for you to decide as youwould be doing such at your own risk. |
