Description of 1993 Geo Metro

This car has been well cared for which should be evident in the pictures I provided. They have all been taken in the past week or two. The one flaw it has is floorboard rust and I provided good pictures of that so you can assess the extent of it.
The engine and transmission are in very good condition and please note the excellent condition of the spark plugs. They are not new. I had my wife follow me the other day and starting from a dead stop I pressed the gas pedal to the floor and pegged it there until I hit 80 miles per hour and she did not seen one bit of smoke, o this car burns very, ery little oil if any at all.
The a-frame seems to be pretty rust free and this is fairy uncommon for a Geo Metro and a very important attribute.
The front seats are OK but I recommend replacing them with the newer, 995 - 2001 Geo Metro Hatchback seats. They bolt in exactly the same way and are much better and nicer seats.
And, gain, his Geo Metro received excellent care as you can tell by the pictures. However, t does have a serious floor pan rust issue on the driver's side as can be seen by the above and below pictures I have taken. I made a special point to pull back the carpet so you can fairly assess the issue. The passenger side has much less rust but I included pictures of that side too. Floor pan rust is a very common issue with Geo Metros so I strongly recommend you never buy one unless the owner has provided pictures with the carpet pulled back and pictures taken underneath the floor board; and on both sides of the car. As you can see by my Metro, hey can be very, ery pretty on the outside but have floor board rust issues. - I got one estimate from an auto body shop to repair both sides and it was $350 - $400 in total but you can probably do it yourself if you are a handy person for less than $100. If you do a google search you will find various means Metro owners have used to tackle this issue. The one I like best is using fiberglass, ut more often I have seen people putting down sheet metal and sealing it up from above and below.
An even more critical area you must insist on pictures from a seller are the a-frames because this is also a weakness in these Metros. And, gain, ou need to see pictures of both sides, ot just one. And this is a safety issue because when they are rusted eventually the wheels just fall to the side. This is the #1 reason Geo Metros end up in the salvage yard. Thankfully the a-arms on this convertible are in very good condition as can be seen by the pictures.
The third area where you have to watch for rust is with the brake lines going to the rear wheels. But on this Metro convertible those brake lines were replaced in the past month. (A new master cylinder was installed at the same time.)
The 89, 0 and 91 Metros had those very annoying "buttons" on the outside of the instrument panel used to turn on the lights, urn on the wipers and/or adjust the wiper speed. They are annoying because they are very fragile and break easily. And good luck finding a decent replacement. The 92 and 93 model years replaced those buttons with normal switches which is a significant improvement.
Also, he A/C on this one does not keep the Freon for very long so there must be a leak somewhere.
