Description of 1969 GMC Other CUSTOM 1500 |
1969 GMC CUSTOM 1500 4x4 PICKUP VIN # : KE10DZA20264GMC 1/2 ton pickup truck. This truck runs and drives and will make a nice project for someone. It has power steering and brakes. and 12-bolt positraction rearend. Broadcast sheet still in the glovebox. The previous owner rebuilt 350 engine and transmission. The truck has some rust. but not bad for the year. It drives nice and straight down the road. These 1967-1972 gm pickups are popular for restoration and tons of reproduction parts are available. Pretty much anything you'd need. I would personally drive this as-is and rod it. but it would be an easy restoration project also. The possibilities on these trucks are endless and you can find 1000s of pictures online of others restored in various ways. Feel free to ask questions. I can sell early at anytime and can talk via phone if you prefer. I HAVE MANY MORE PICS I CAN SEND. Also a video of it running. I did also include a picture of a similar restored truck so you can see what this truck could look like. Thanks. MECHANICALThis truck has an Edelbrock 4-barrel carberator. 350 small block V8 with a pertronix ignitor ignition system and B&M automatic shift kit. This is an original turbo-400 truck and the truck currently has a turbo 400 but I have not checked the numbers. It most likely is the original transmission. Rearend is a 12-bolt posi. and it works as it should. This has power steering and power brakes. No air. The motor runs nice. It could use a tuneup. I think a cam/intake/headers/ etc. would really liven it up. The engine starts nice. doesn't smoke. doesn't knock or tick. doesn't overheat. No oil in water or water in the oil. It needs some new gaskets or they need tightening. It has the usual old rig seeping but no major leaks. The engine rear main. and front/rear transmission seals are ok. The truck drives nice and straight down the road. No vibrations. wandering. or pulling. It's surprisingly tight. 6-lug 15" ralley wheels. They are not period correct but look great on these trucks because lots of gm cars of this era had rallys. The gauges all work. Steering works nice. Brakes work fine but power booster seems a little weak. It's completely usable though. Headlights. parking lights. turn signals and brake lights work. INTERIORThe interior is actually in pretty nice shape for an unrestored truck this old. Seat is really pretty nice. It is comfortable and springs aren't crushed. Door panels and dash are in good condition. Carpet has been replaced and is in good shape. Gauge area is pretty clean. This truck was not cutup. Original radio is gone has been replaced with a Craig AM/FM cassette player with Pioneer speakers. BODYThe body is very straight overall. The black marks on the drivers side of the box are not dents. It does have the usual 1967-1972 chevy rust but is less than most of this vintage. especially if your in a salt area. I have several undercarriage photos also in a link I can send. Body: Inner and outer rockers have rust. Cab corners also have the usual rust through. Box has rust behind rear wheel on the lip. Not on the passenger side. Drivers box also has small rust spot in skin behind the cab corner. This is about 1"x1". A super easy repair. Front fender are pretty nice but have rust in front low corners. They probably make patch panels. Box floor is the metal version and is solid. Inner fenders front and rear look nice. Floor pans are nice. with exception of the edge that meets the inner rocker. Frame. hood. doors. header. firewall. drip rails. tailgate. cowl. etc. have no rust through. Frame rust is almost non-existent in this area. This pickup most likely never saw salt on a road before. The roads weren't salted here until the last few years. and that is sporatic and usually only in severe weather. Windshield is new and has tint. That's a nice bonus. Door windows and wing windows operate as they should. OVERALLThis is a solid truck that is unmolested for the most part. It's a great candidate for an original restoration. which would be easy. Original type hubcaps are most likely available. as are all restoration parts. Thanks and happy bidding. Sold as-is. |
