1991 GMC SYCLONE PICKUP Up for sale is this great example of the famed GMC Syclone that became known as the first of the hot rod pickups. Only 2995 of these trucks were built in their one year of production. The LB4 engine is rated at 280 hp and 350 ft-lb torque from a 4.3L turbocharged V6 that features a liquid-cooled inter-cooler. The drive train has a 4 speed automatic transmission mated to all wheel drive with posi-traction rear end. A viscous coupling transfers 35% of the power to the front wheels and 65% to the rear. This arrangement provides excellent hookup to the road and the automatic transmission eliminates turbo lag issues. When these vehicles were introduced they created quite a stir in the automotive world. The 0 to 60 time was tested at 4.3 seconds and the ¼ mile time was 13.6 seconds at 93 mph. The Acura NSX and the Ferrari 348ts could not do better than 5.0 in 0 to 60 times that year. Car & Driver did their cover story in the September 1991 issue where they staged a ¼ mile drag race between a Syclone and a Ferrari 348ts and the Syclone won! Jay Leno has a video on his web site where he talks about the excitement surrounding the Syclone after this publicity and he went out and bought a one which he still has and it was his "daily driver" for many years. He said he still loves to drive it. We have had this Syclone for several years now and it looks and runs great. It is in basically original condition but the factory stereo has been changed out for a Kenwood aftermarket unit for improved sound. This truck has had excellent care and service including WV State Safety inspection. Cosmetically thevehicle looks great but there are some scratches in the bed (see photos). Shipping arrangements are the responsibility of the winning bidder. Payment must be made with secured funds and PayPal is only acceptable for the deposit. We are located just off I-79 in Fairmont WV. Inspection is welcomed by appointment at our shop by interested bidders or their representatives. E-mail any questions and we will be happy to answer. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
