Description of 1957 GMC Other |
Up for auction is a1957 GMC pickup that spent most of its life in Montana. She was owned by a local there for 38 years. In the latter part of that time he decided restore the old work truck to what he called GREEN ENVY. She was given a metallic green paint job which was done by an amateur. While at 10 feet it really looks cool up close you notice many little defects. You will see sanding marks where someone sanded off the name GREEN ENVY from the cab and the tailgate in the photos. The truck has the 123.25 in. wheel base and a 92 in. bed. I will take a written walk around the truck. First thing to note there are new bumpers front and back. There is some paint wear on the top of the bed rails from something like a canopy noted in photos. On the rear passenger fender there is an area where the paint is cracking about 2 feet in length noted is photos. The truck has fairly new whitewall radial tires — P235/75R/15. The roof of the truck looks straight. On the cab area the area behind the passenger door has some small bubble in the paint. Gaps on front fenders to hood and cowl are wide-not sure if they can be reset. Someone put rubber gaskets between fenders and cowl. There is some body filler on the edge of the passenger door near back of door. Passenger and driver door glass look good and roll up and down fine. Both wing windows have fogging on edges. The top pivot of passenger wing window is worn out but functions. Windshield is good except for light wiper blade scratching on passenger side. Driver side front fender has some cracking body filler near driver's door gap. Driver's door has some filler in the area as well. There is a black seat cover over an old tired truck seat as well as a new rubber floor mat and headliner insert. There is an Impala steering wheel on the truck now and original is in the bed. None of the gauges are hooked up and the speedometer does not work. The headlights, ail lights and brake lights work fine. Both door steps have had some rust repair and have had metal attached underneath to strengthen. I have taken photos from the underside of these. The heater is out of the truck but I do have it. There is a photo of some rust repair done on floor on driver side. For some reason someone cut open the floor board above the floor shifter which I have photographed as well. Truck is a 12 volt system with an alternator added. Engine stamp is F0322GF and block casting number is 3849852. This says it should be a 283 cu in from a 1965 Chevrolet. The engine starts right up and runs good but is cold blooded without a choke. You should add a manual choke. Transmission is original 4 speed with granny low gear in 1st. Clutch and brakes work fine. Drives like a 1957 Truck but is fun going down the road. Seems to hold temperature just fine. The truck has an assigned VIN attached to firewall. Not sure when that was done. I have a clear Oregon title with that VIN. All in all it is a fun truck to drive and turns heads everywhere it goes! You can have fun tinkering with it as you drive it or leave it as and enjoy! I have about 100 photos below, /font>please look at all of them. |
