Description of 1953 GMC Other

This is one of the rarest GMC Pick Up Trucks made. This is a 1953 GMC 1/2 ton PickUp with the factory Hydromatic Transmission. Just a little history on the Hydromatic. The Hydromatic was used in Oldsmobile and Pontiac in the late forties and early 50's GMC was the first Pick Up to get the Hydromatic in 1953. The same year the Transmission plant burned down and did not start up again until the 1954 models were out so there were very few of the 1953 GMC Pick Ups made with the Hydromatic. This is a barn find and I bought it from the original owners family, he truck was last run in 1974 when it was parked in the Barn after the original owner died. I was told by the family members that the truck was running when it was parked, have not tried to crank the truck. It does however appear to be all here and all original parts are all there even have the original wheels and hubcaps inside the body. All I have done is buy the truck and bring it home, have not tried to clean it up at all. It does have rust in one of the cab corners and the body on the rear has some rust. The floorboard has a couple holes also. The 228 engine is all here and original.. Rust and all this truck is very restoreable. I will consider any reasonable offer, f you would like to call and talk about it please do, y number is 478-747-4730. I can deliver the truck for a much more reasonable price than you can get from the shippers. I would also like to add that I have a NOS GMC 302engine that would be perfect for this truck that I would also sell to the new owner if they want it. I can't express enough how rare this truck is and would be priceless when restored correctly. Please call with any questions.
Truck is for sale locally so I reserve the right to stop the auction at anytime.
