Description of 1987 GMC Sierra 2500

1987 GMC V30 1 ton 4x4. 6" suspension lift, all spring front, 2" springs and 4" blocks in the rear. Crossover steering. It's sitting on a set of MickeyThompson MTR's 315/75/16 (35's). I've owned this truck for the last 9 years and have almost completely rebuilt it mechanically. The engine, transmission, and transfer case were all rebuilt in 2012 and since then have had about 31,000 miles put on them. This truck runs strong, is very reliable and everything works as it should. If you know anything about these trucks, you know that the heat/ac system is known for problems with the vents working properly as well as the fuel tank system. Both of the tanks and the heat/ac system work flawlessly and the a/c blows ice cold! The body is very straight, with the only downside being the typical GM rust behind the rear wheels. I have pictured the worst of it, and it's not bad at all. It can very easily be fixed. The interior is in good condition, the headliner was recently redone and the seat has not rips or tears, although it does show some wear. The carpet is all there and intact with no rips, but it does have some wear spotsand does have some fading from the sun. All in all, this truck is very mechanically sound with a straight body and a decent interior. I have listed all of the major areas of the truck below and it should answer most of your questions. With minimal body work, a paint job and a carpet kit, you would have a like brand new truck. If you have done your research, you know that these trucks are getting harder to find! Please ask questions prior to bidding as I'm happy to answer them. No problem at all for more pictures. If you have less than 10 feedback, please contact me prior to bidding or I will cancel your bid. This truck is for sale locally, so I do reserve the right to end the auction early should it sell locally. Thanks for looking and good luck!

ENGINE:

350 TBIV8. 880 casting Vortec block, forged crankshaft, hypereutectic flat top pistons. Block was bore .030" over. Vortec connecting rods, new ARP rod bolts, rotating assembly was balanced. 193 casting heads, 1.94" intake, 1.6" exhaust. Stainless valves with new Comp Cams valves springs were used. Factory L98 roller camshaft (factory TPI cam for Camaros, etc) was installed with a double roller timing set. A serpentine belt setupwas used from the later style TBI motors. Runs strong and smooth, lots of power. I estimate this engine to be in the 300-325 HP range. It consistently gets 13-15 MPG on the highway depending on how you drive it. A large 4 row radiator was installed, so cooling is never an issue even on the hottest days with the AC running. The exhaust system was done at the same time the engine was rebuilt; Summit headers were installed and a single custom 3" exhaust system was installed with a new Magna Flo muffler. There is no cat installed in the exhaust system, but I do have a high flow cat that will be included with the truck.

TRANSMISSION:

GM TH 700R4. Along with the engine, this was rebuilt approximately 31,000 miles ago. The factory 4x4"K" case was used. Corvette servo, shift kit and heavy duty torque converter were installed.

TRANSFER CASE:

GM NP 208. Was rebuilt 31,000 miles ago. All new bearings, chain and seals were done during the rebuild.

FRONT DIFFERENTIAL:

Dana 60 king pin style. It's in good condition, no leaks. 4.56:1 ring and pinion. New front rotors, brake pads and new Warn locking hubs were just done. It also has a cross over steering conversion, so it turns tight and sharp.

REAR DIFFERENTIAL:

GM 14 bolt corporate full floating rear end. 4.56:1 ring and pinion, no leaks. Rear brakes were done about 25,000 miles ago.

BODY/PAINT/GLASS:

The body is very straight. It appears to have been repainted at some point and time and was repainted the factory original colors. It does have the typical GM rust behind the rear wheels, nothing major and can easily be fixed. I have pictures the worst side of it. The glass is all in good shape, and there is window tint on the side glass. It has a rear slider window. The camper shell is a Leer, has a liner and the bed has a sprayed in bed liner that was professionally done by LineX.

I have always kept on maintenance and service on this truck. A lot of things have been replacedto insure reliability. New fuel pumps in both tanks, a new fuel selector valve, new distributor and ignition module, ignition coil, etc. to insure reliability.
