Description of 1966 GMC |
The truck is an original 1966 GMC C1000 SWB that came from Alabama. The truck has a few spots of rust and age, as seen in the pictures. The structural pieces, including all floor boards are rock solid. The original bed wood, which has some rot, is underneath the stained plywood bed floor. Lower fender patch panels have been installed on both sides and single stage paint has been feathered in to match existing paint. The original Inline 6 (250 ci) was pulled and rebuilt from valve cover to oil pan. I wanted to build different than the normal SBC and turbocharging the Inline was just that. All components were spec'd out to work together from the low compression forged pistons, turbo size, blow-thru carburetor, turbo camshaft, and auto transmission. I have the current configuration set to run at 10 psi. The setup has been run for 4 years (around 4000 miles) with zero problems and is an absolute blast to drive. Specs:
The interior is all original. The seat section of the bench seat has been recovered but back section remains untouched. The cab, from firewall to back wall, has been rust-proofed and soundproofed/insulated. A Sony Bluetooth CD player is installed in the glove box along with pioneer speakers and a sub woofer behind the seat. All gauges work properly as does the heater. The front coils were cut and bumps stops trimmed. Rear leaf springs were removed and new shocks at all four corners. Custom traction bars were installed on the rear to prevent wheel hop. It has the original 15x6" front wheels with custom 15x8” rear steelies. All four corners are topped with the original, re-painted GMC dog dish caps and all new rubber. The truck grabs attention and eyes pop when the hood is raised. There is nothing else out there like it. I built this truck DRIVE, be super reliable, and have fun with. It has been all of those, but it is time to move on to another build.
