Classic Truck Rescue is offering this very hard to find 1955 GMC Five-Window, First-Series. This is an Honest 15,000 Original Mile Truck that has been very well cared for. It is outfitted with all the Deluxe Cab and Deluxe Chrome options. This is an absolutely SOLID truck with no rot. Please view the photos of the bottoms of the doors and cab corners, there is one penny-sized rust hole on the bottom of the passenger's side cab corner (See photo), but that is the only hole I can find on the truck. It does have minor dings and a dent on the driver's side fender bottom. The rear window and two pieces of side glass will need to be replaced (all flat glass), but the windshield is very nice. It has the rare and hard to find Hood-Jet, unfortunately, it is broken. The original engine starts right up and runs well with plenty of power, but does smoke a little, and will probably need valve guide seals, and there may still be a little "Marvel Mystery Oil" in the gas tank because the previous owner poured an entire quart in the tank....seriously. I did put new spark plugs and fluids in it and a new belt.Although this truck is in very good condition, please keep in mind that it is over 60-years old and will require some attention. The brakes will need to be gone through and rubber seals replaced. The electrical system has been converted to 12-volt. The battery does not need to be disconnected after you run it, it will hold a charge while stored and fires up immediately, but the fuses are missing and it may need some light electrical work. None of the wiring has been butchered though. It does charge well. The interior is in amazing condition and draws a lot of attention. It still has the original cardboard headliner, although it is pretty shrunken and cracked after 60+ Years. The seat is soft and comfortable. Upholstery is not stiff, it is very soft with no cracks. The rubber around the doors is still very soft. This is the only 1st-series truck I have come across in which the lever under the dash still properly opens and closes the fresh-air intake vent on the cowl. The wood bed will need to be completely replaced with new lumber, but the metal framework is in very good condition. The hoist works very well and the bed lifts up and down smoothly. This truck has $1600. in Brand-new Radial tires on it. not 99% tread, 100%. Paint is faded, but it is the original two-tone Aspen Green Over Delta Green with some nice Patina going on. The wheels are still the original Aspen green. Front Grill is in Gorgeous condition with very minimal surface rust in a couple small areas. Comes with the original door lock key and two ignition keys. The brakes do work when I fill the master cylinder, but it just leaks out because the rubber brake components are cracked. Transmission and clutch work flawlessly in all gears. It has a 2-speed rearend, which combined with the new radial tires will make for a highway-friendly drive. The hydraulic hoist for the dump bed also works very well with no jerking..very smooth. This truck doesn't have anysqueaks or rattles going on, goes down the road very smooth and the steering doesn't have slop on it. Its a tight truck. I have a clear Washington State title in the previous owner's name. The serial number on the title matches the serial number on the original engine, as that is the vin# Washington state uses for titles. I have given an honest description of this truck. Its not perfect, but its not a major project either. If there is something I forgot to touch on or if you have further questions, please feel free to ask before placing a bid. Thank you for taking the time to read my description.
