Description of 1991 GMC Suburban |
No reserve auction! I bought this Suburban in 2003 with the intent of building a "last a lifetime" vehicle. I pulled the engine and had it completely torn apart. blue-printed and put back together with top of the line parts: Forged crank. rods and pistons. new aftermarket head. cam (gentle enough to allow it to idle like a normal vehicle) high-flow oil and water-pump. ignition upgrade. TBI spacer. headers and all the goodies. I had the 4L80-E heavy duty transmission and transfer case rebuilt and upgraded with shift-kit etc. I got a new and better radiator. balanced the drive-line. serviced/rebuilt the front and read differentials and a ton of other stuff. At this point I had over $20 grand into a '91 Suburban and my wife was shaking her head. I more or less stopped there. Since then I've put about 30. 00 miles on the truck. about 5k miles a year the first few years and tapering off over the years. Most have been pain-free and "Sully" has been strong and pulled my little travel trailer 6000 ft up several times. He's always gotten the best synthetic oils and been cared for. Sadly it hasn't been all pain-free: Having any vehicle sit and only get driven once or twice a month (which I made sure to do) has caused some problems: I've had the AC repaired 3 or 4 times. had a piston in the transmission crack about a year ago (it was replaced with an upgraded stainless billed piston). and just recently it somehow managed to burn a valve in the #5 cyl. The truck runs and can be driven. but it obviously sounds like it's missing on one cylinder. I've finally gotten to the point where I don't want to continue to fix things on a vehicle that doesn't get used much. So here is a vehicle with a ton of upgrades/improvements in need of a little love and some regular usage to stay young and fresh. It has a few minor dings here and there. but absolutely no rust besides the minor surface rust on the roof from failing paint (See picture of bottom of door. under carriage w original paint and roof). It has an newer stereo. but the wiring to the speakers was never done right and will need a couple of hours of attention. Some interior panel in the rear that are out as a result. but they are included. It is. however a 24 year old truck and it has not had the interior replaced etc. - so it has some wear. the head-liner is starting to "bubble" here and there (see picture) etc. etc. Not a brand new vehicle. but in pretty darn good shape for being a 24 year old one. As a result of the valve. it will not smog. I'm sure. So. you need to be aware of this. if you are in CA. It does not come with a smog certificate. I did smog last time I got it registered. Note: If the truck sells for over $4500 the tires and wheels are included - if not. it will come with some basic GM wheels/tires w less life on the tires. Please do not bid if you don't intend to buy it. There is NO RESERVE so any bid over the starting bid will potentially win it. $1000 deposit within 48 hours of close of auction.
