Description of 1986 GMC Other Sierra Classic

The square-jawed third generation GM C/K 1500 pickups are growing in popularity every day, and the best ones are well-maintained, stock examples like this 1986 1500 Sierra Classic that continue on the original spirit of these tough American classics. This cool regular cab/long bed truck features a handsome two-tone paint job, comfortable A/C interior, a smooth-running 5.0L V8 small block, and plenty of factory options for the guy who wants a work truck to show off on weekends or a weekend truck that can still go to work.
Presented in correct code 90U Steel Gray Metallic over a center strip of silver, the survivor-grade finish has a great shine that shows very well for a truck of this vintage, with imperfections only found under closer scrutiny. Despite GMC's blue-collar roots, the curb appeal of this tough hauler is much more glamorous, with black pinstripes separating the contrasting colors and resulting in a look that's typically worthy of more expensive vehicles. The truck has had the benefit of being a lifelong Texas vehicle with only 2 owners and no accidents shown on its Vehicle History Report, so the sheetmetal is very straight and is what makes the paint look so solid, with nice gloss and factory panel fit. Certainly very nice for having traveled 124k miles on the road over the last 35 years! Other than the chin spoiler and bumper guards up front, a diamond-plate toolbox, and a matching heavy-duty rear bumper, it's all straightforward GM equipment from '86, without so much as a cowl-induction hood to set things off, and you really can't argue with the results. All the original trim was retained, including the bright rub strips along the body, the Sierra Classic badges, and bright chrome bumpers fore and aft that look awesome against the gray and silver paint. The bed is protected by a spray-in bedliner and shows a few signs of use, but nothing serious and that means you won't be afraid to haul anything you like back there, and with 8-feet of real estate, you just may drag half of Home Depot back with you.
One of the strengths of the third-generation C/K 1500 pickups was their spacious and comfortable interiors. With its original bench seat upholstered in factory charcoal cloth and vinyl, it has a fresh look that's still ready to get some work done. Everything appears to be all-original and remains in very good condition with some light wear but no splits or tears in the upholstery, and everything is working as it should. Gray carpets with heavy-duty mats add a degree of formality to the interior, as well as helping to control noise and heat from underneath. A complete array of factory gauges keeps an eye on things underhood, and even the factory dash is free of cracks and fading – quite a task to boast to anyone that's familiar with '80s dash plastics. The original GMC steering wheel definitely adds further comfort to the interior and works well with the black and gray accents on the dash and door panels. Options include an AM/FM/Cassette radio, cruise control, tilt wheel, power windows and locks, dual fuel tanks, and factory A/C that's blowing ice cold!
History's most reliable and versatile engine lives under the hood, a 305 cubic inch V8 small block (aka the 5.0L V8) that's remarkably stock. The engine bay remains clean and well-maintained, with plenty of evidence of proper maintenance, suggesting that someone always cared about keeping it in top shape. There's a factory 4-barrel carburetor under the original snorkeled air cleaner and even the original jack assembly is still strapped to the inner fender, and a heavy-duty radiator keeps the whole show nice and cool. Cast iron exhaust manifolds feed a custom single exhaust system with a Flowmaster-style muffler, so it has a throaty voice that you'd maybe not expect from this sleeper GMC. Underneath, there's a smooth-shifting 3-speed automatic transmission which gives it quick reflexes with great user-friendliness on and off the highway. The underside is original but incredibly solid, more proof of a good life in a warm Texas climate. OEM Rally wheels with beauty rings look sporty and wear 265/70/15 blackwall radials at all four corners to finish off the stock look.
If you're looking for a clean truck with no real needs and a great color combination, you really can't do much better than this for the investment. Call today!
