Description of 1956 GMC 100 |
Vehicle Details This is a documented California truck from San Bernardino. Was a service truck for plumbing company in the 50s and 60s. I have registration paperwork from 1961, receipts and paperwork for parts and repairs from 1998 - 2020s. Includes documents for engine head rebuild and lower engine and transmission work and parts. Also early advertising magazines and calendars. Truck is stored inside for more than a decade. Mainly used for home projects, car meets and parades. Runs and drives excellent. Body is very, very straight with the only runs step into the cab on both sides. You can see an image of me pointing to the spot. Both areas are very minimal and have had rustoleum sealing it for years without issue. Original color was cream. Prior to leaving California the exterior of the truck was completely covered in gloss gloss white rustoleum paint. This paint was thick, and was rolled on, I believe this is what has contributed to saving the body from rust. That said, the paint is rough in places and has a unique patina. Underneath the paint, the original color still exists. The wheel caps are original. When I purchased the truck they were the original cream color. I removed the paint with aircraft stripper revealing the almost 70 year old hidden chrome. The cover on the spare tire is a replacement. The current tires are radial Yokohamas with a added whitewall for a classic effect. They’re are like new, $1,400. The engine is 270 6 cylinder, it’s had work, I have the receipt. No longer has points, and is converted to 12 volts with a Delco-Remy generator. It has a rebuilt starter, water pump, brake cylinder, carburetor. Very clean motor with no major leaks. Stored inside since I’ve purchased it in 2012 Time capsule: Original engine & Transmission (receipt showing engine rebuild work) Zenith downdraft single barrel carburetor Oil bath air cleaner Rebuilt radiator Glass inline fuel filter Oil filter system Original glass (does have 1 cracked wing window) Very rare hood ornament Still has jack next to gas tank New since I’ve owned it. New seatbelt Reupholstered bench seat Rebuilt heater (core, blower fan and controller) Rubber floor mat Refinished pine bed with chrome slate New exhaust New shocks 5 New Yokohama tires with tall white walls New headliner and trim. New doors New Glove box New headlights New taillight lenses New tailgate chains New fuel sending unit New starter, sylinoid and coil New plug wires, cap & rotor New hoses New battery EVERYTHING WORKS….ALL exterior lights, interior, gauges (including low generator light), windshield wipers, turn signals, horn, vent controls, choke control, heater, and fan. As I mentioned the only rust on the body is in the door sills immediately under the door. (See pictures) Easily addressed. Cab corner are perfect. Floors are perfect. Fire wall is perfect. (See pictures) Truck starts, runs and flawlessly. Very little play in steering. Top speed is 55 mph. I can send a 3 minute video for serious enquirers. |
