Description of 1957 GMC 250 deluxe |
Vehicle Details This according to research done by Lee at the RV museum in Indiana is a 1 of 1, special order, factory custom truck that was built by a collaboration between Coach Works, and GMC. It had a camper on the back that was in such bad shape I took it off. It has sat 20 years under an awning, but kids threw rocks through the camper windows resulting in its eventual decline. Luckily they didn't break any cab windows. The truck was running and driven to its present location 20 years ago. It has less than 8000 actual miles on it. I have the original title, all registration papers, receipts, hardback factory repair manual, etc. This truck is 100% original. It's headliner is missing, as is the original, Air cleaner. Mice have chewed the wiring under the hood. I have purchased a plastic coated color coded wiring diagram for it. As can be seen in the photos the truck has a very special custom from the factory interior, steering wheel, shifter, turn signal, etc. It has PB, PS, AC, trans brake, auto trans, and first and only year 347 engine. The metal on this truck is in extraordinarily good condition. Rust through is extremely minimal in a couple small spots on the hood, and I noticed a spot on the driver's side step. The paint looks awful, but the metal underneath is fantastic overall. The floors are like near new. I removed the ignition switch, and driveshaft after an attempted theft of the vehicle, but i still have them. I also have keys, armrests, rare hard to find, wipers, new OEM ignition, original ignition, original, and new ignition ring, and tool. The original owner bought it and traveled only one summer before parking it permanently resulting in less than 8000 actual original miles. I had plans for a frame off restoration but I have too many projects going and need to simplify my life so someone is going to get a rare jewell. Pay $1000. immediately upon purchase and pay the rest in CASH ONLY when you pick it up. All sales final. Please view the photos carefully as they are the major component of the description. I kept all the pertinent parts of the original camper, stove, refrigerator, etc. in case you want to build it back original. I also kept photos of exterior and interior to aid in restoration if you so choose. These '55 thru '59 Blue Chip Series GMC, and Chevy trucks are going for $100,000. plus restored, and you will NOT find a better candidate for restoration. I'm letting it go for a fraction of its value. This 347 engine was the first factory high performance advertised engine to ever be released to the public. It ruled NASCAR for a few years. This has a 4bbl carburetor from the factory, and is the same engine the famous 3 deuces come out on that made the GTO famous! |
