Description of 1942 GMC Other

Rare 1942 Canadian-built GMC ½ ton pickup truck project. It has a clear N. J. title. Originally purchased in Quebec Canada in 1994 with a 1971 Nova 6 cylinder engine. powerglide. 1960’s Chevy pickup 6 lug pickup truck rear end with drum brakes. and the electrical system was converted to 12 volts. Everything else was pretty much original. The photo shows the truck as I bought it. After that photo. I put new wheels and tires on it. new radiator. kingpins. and I rebuilt the brakes. I also swapped out the 6 volt heater blower motor for a 12 volt unit. I drove it like that for several years before deciding to upgrade the engine. electrical system. suspension. brakes. etc. I removed the front sheetmetal. engine. and transmission and purchased most everything I needed for the upgrade. including a 0 miles GMC Envoy I-6 engine and 4L60 transmission. Besides buying and renovating another house. two other surprise projects got in the the way of completing the truck (be sure to visit my website at www. PictureTrail. com/motthollow "for the rest of the story"). The price for the truck and everything I bought for it over the past 20 years is $18. 00. which barely covers what I bought for it at prices current at the time of purchase. and is far below what they would cost today. I have receipts and a record of everything purchased over the years. If you don't want the I-6 engine and the 4L60 I can adjust the price accordingly; that combo with the wiring harness cost me $5. 04. INCLUDED WITH SALE:2007 I-6 engine with less than 1 mile. It came from a GMC Envoy that was legally unsellable because it had sheetmetal damage on the assembly line. It is an aluminum I-6 with dual overhead cams. 24 valves. and fuel injection. It is factory rated at 291 HP. The complete engine was purchased through Street and Performance in Mena Arkansas (www. hotrodlane. cc) where the engine was shipped to directly from GM and fit with a custom wiring harness so I could run the fuel injection and transmission without the computer. The engine is complete and ready to run including all add-ons (starter motor. alternator. A/C compressor. etc. and is still wrapped and mounted on the shipping pallet stored in my heated garage. Brand new (from the same Envoy) 4L60 overdrive transmission. Completely restored and refurbished gauge panel. built to 12 volt specifications. New Fat Man Fabrications Mustang II IFS suspension with manual rack. New ECI front disc brake kit using GM rotors and calipers. American Autowire “Highway 15” wiring kit. New fiberglass running boards. New fiberglass rear fenders. New fiberglass lower front valence panel. Two extremely rare upper and lower grills and steel lower front valence panels. One is in very good condition and one is very restorable. These GMC items are extremely rare and hard to find. They are in addition to what is already on the truck. Additional duplicate items included: extra headlight buckets. parking light housings. tail lights. radiator support. radiator. doors (not in perfect condition but very restorable). many additional miscellaneous parts. Shop manual and rare original parts book All purchases are noted in ledger book. including purchase price. Delivery possibleWhat it needs to be street worthy: brake lines. motor and transmission mounts. driveshaft will need to be shortened. adapters to connect steering shaft to R&P steering rack. two 5 lug wheels and tires because the new front rotors are 5 lug not 6. nbsp; assembly hardware such as bolts and such. and some minor parts here and there. Also included with sale (although the ones on the truck are either in good or very usable condition. If you don’t want any of these I will reduce the price by the amount I paid for them. ): Additional pair of front fenders. Additional hood including side panels. Side panels are Chevy. but fit GMC. Additional complete dashboard minus gauge panel. Additional doors. Photos: the first two show the truck as purchased until the front end was disassembled (third photo). The gauge panel was refurbished as shown and wired for 12 volt. The new engine and transmission as delivered from Street and Performance and are now stored in my heated garage. Other photos are shown in the website listed above.
