Description of 1978 GMC Sierra 3500 K30

1978 GMC K30 4x4 Pickup Truck. Four wheel drive. Sierra Classic one ton pickup. Very heavy duty running gear. Engine: 454 Big Block Chevrolet + . 030 with Keith Black Silv-O-Lite popup pistons. I believe 9 or 9. 5 to 1 compression ratio. runs fine at my altitude (5000 feet) but may need octane booster at lower altitudes. has about 40000 miles on it since being rebuilt 20 years ago at Carson Truck & Auto Repair (www. ctar. us). Starts easy and runs very strong. Currently stored in the hay barn. dusty but out of the rain and sun. Transmission: Turbo 400 (TH400) three speed automatic with shift kit and many heavy duty parts. Shifts very firm. has dual apply forward and direct clutches (ask your favorite transmission guy). blocked accumulators and 5 plate clutch packs and a factory deep pan. Transfer case: NP205 gear drive transfer case with Selectro manual locking hubs. Front Differential: Factory Dana 60 with heavy duty open carrier. 4:10 ratio. Front disc brakes. Welded on truss bar. Rear Differential: Factory Corporate 14 bolt with a Detroit Locker. 4:10 ratio. Rear drum brakes. 3. 5 inch. Welded on truss bar. Body is a little rough. has some rust around the wheels. a few minor dents. please refer to the pictures. The paint is original but rough. Truck has never been wrecked but tailgate has been repainted for different graphics. The hood is straight. The truck was used as a road-service truck and had 2 8D batteries mounted under the hood. the huge battery boxes are welded in the fenders. see photos. The tires have 90% tread and don’t leak but are very old and should probably not be considered road worthy. All gauges work except the speedometer. actual mileage is over 100. 00. cruise control does not work. The wood bed is useable but cracked and old (original). I’ve owned this truck for over 35 years here in Nevada. Grill guard is a bolted on. one piece. welded style. Buy this truck for the running gear.
