I'm listing for sale my 1989 honda civic wagon rt4wd aka wagovan aka shuttle. I've had this car for a few years now and I've decided to sell it. I bought this off a really nice guy who had it most of its life and was a honda certified technician. I myself am a ASE certified master tech for 19 years and am a honda enthusiast. This car has been cared for, ut absolutely requires care! This car will need plenty of TLC, ut will pass inspection in its current condition. I believe the inspection is due again in April. I'll try to describe everything about the car to the best of my ability. Lets start with the body. The odometer reads 133k mi, received it with around 121k if i recall correctly. The previous owner said he changed the cluster at one point in its life. That old cluster read over 200k. If he bought that new, hen I wouldnt doubt this chassis actually has around 340-350k mi. The actual mileage is unknown. The body has been patched multiple times with metal and has some rust protruding again as seen in the photos. The underside is not horribly rusty. The only bad spot I can remember is a small hole in the inner fender on the drivers side of the "strut tower". The tops are fine, ut be aware this should eventually be patched. I've replaced axles, ll ball joints/tie rods, ome bushings, tc etc. Whatever it needed, replaced with quality parts. All the brakes are new, ut the pedal is partially soft. I attribute this to the master cylinder being a 13/16's bore instead of the vehicle required 15/16's. At some point it was changed and the incorrect master cylinder was installed. I have some spare parts for the brakes I believe including random other chassis or interior parts. The interior is in pretty good shape. The tops of the door panels are cracked. The drivers side window regulator recently started becoming stiff. Everything else works inside the car, ven the air conditioning! The rear hatch shocks are brand new. The hood cable is new, ut it doesnt open easily. . . Windshield is cracked in the lower right corner, ut doesnt leak or effect inspection. The wiper transmission has play and slaps off the cowl and a-pillar when on "high". The seats are out of a DA integra I believe and are fairly comfortable. All lights work, ear wiper, mergency brake. The ignition key has given me problems in the past where after you crank it and release it to 'on', t will loose connection and stall. Wiggling it has worked for a year now and hasnt acted up in a while. The main relay has been changed a couple times and hangs down incase you need to change it. It hasnt acted up in a long time either. Wheels and tires on it now are 16" steelies with new winter tires 195/55-16. Comes with a nice set of DA integra wheels and fair tires, nother set of DA wheels with snow tires and the original white steel wheels that came with the car. Lets move to the drivetrain. This car has a D16Y8 engine in it with unknown miles. Its converted from OBD0 to OBD1 and runs a P28 stock ecu. I put an adjustable cam gear on it to account for the difference in cam timing and ignition timing between the two generations of sohc vtec's. I put a z6 oil pump in it for better oil flow since heads have known to fail because of this. Unfortunately, hat means there is no dip stick since z6's were on the block and y8's were on the oil pump. I change the oil enough it doesnt burn it up and run out. The drain plug is in rough shape and should have the oil pan replaced, RTV it every time i change the oil. The pan is specific for the wagovan AWD system and only fits with the old style oil pump. Also, he y8 timing belt side mount isnt clocked right for the EF chassis, o it is tilted forward and does vib in the chassis a small amount at idle. I changed the motor probably a year ago now and did all this work. Timing belt and water pump were done, ut the covers are pieced together for the oil pump combo, o it rubs slightly and you can hear it on/off throttle if youre really listening. The clutch is very new and holds nice. The exhaust is a few years old and sounds fine, he bosal replacement. The gearbox is fair and does grind slightly if you shift at redline. There is a slight differential whine despite the fluid being all changed, t is pretty slight but I can tell its there. The viscous coupler holds well and doesnt slip out from what i've experience nor does it lock up like a subaru can over time. It has a K&N filter in it also. If your still reading this, hen I'm impressed. I've loved and worked on this car for a long time and its come to a point where I'm not interested in fixing it anymore. If I were to keep this and my life was in a different position, would keep this for a parts car and find another clean car to use. They are so rare though, hat I'm not prepared to spend what market value is on a clean one and keep it alive.
