Description of 1986 Honda Civic SI |
Up for grabs is this clean 1986 Honda Civic Hatchback SI . Thisautomobile looks like a timecapsule, something you would see in a 1986MagazineHonda Add! It's even running stock hub caps! Exterior: Body is straight with no waves besides one small ding on driver side door by door handle(ex gfincident-don't ask). Bodywork was done by a professional, not yourtypical Macco body and paint crap. All body lines (gaps) werealigned including bumpers. Side rubber molding trim was shaved off and all related trim holes were welded in, giving it a smooth modern look. The entire body was blocked the right way! The paint is a single stage PPG stock Honda red (bright red) . Rear and side pop out quarter windows have a mild tint to them. Best of all, since its an SI, it has a rear window wiper. Interior: Once inside you feel like you just drove off the dealer lot back in 1986. The seats were redone using stock looking fabric. Headliner and door panels are in excellent shape, even the stock clock works! Interior colors are black and gray, except for the off white headliner that all Honda's came with of that era. The only thing that is not stock is the sound system, using a modern single CD radio unit (stock radio location was not cut out!) and four modern speakers were installed in stock locations. We also still have the stock Honda logo cassette player radio that will go with the car! Undercarriage: Front struts are about 8 months old. Brakes were changed out about 15000 miles ago, including a new right rear hub. Power Plant: Transmission is a 5 speed, that only SI models came with. It's running a stock 1.5 Fuel Injected! that works great even at idlel. Car runs great, was used as a commuter for a year, running 60 miles a day getting about 34 miles a gal city and 40mpg highway. Car has even been driven from LosAngelesto Yosemite a few times. The engine blew a head gasket last month, never over heated or mixed water with oil! Issue was discovered when it was noticed the car was losing water every week. Once inspecting the engine, it was found that the head gasket blew in cylinder 3 between waterjacketand cylinder. No steamexiting out the exhaust! just burps compression through coolant system. Over all this car is clean and would be an easy fix. We have too many classic projects at the moment that we would rather let it go than to fix our little parts runner. This little hatchback is a blank canvas, swap out head gasket and drive it as is, getting compliments from others on freeway, or swap a K20 in this baby and make it a sleeper. What ever you decide to do to this car its your gain and our loss. Car is Registered and Insured inCalifornia under our name and of course its a clean title! Car has never been in an accident or wrecked. Car is sold as is, where is and buyer isresponsible for shipping. Feel free to ask us any questions about the car.
