Description of 1990 Honda CRX |
Hello. and welcome to my auction! I am a Honda enthusiast. and I'm always on the lookout for bone-stock Hondas that have been well taken care of. This is probably my favorite find. I found it on Orange County craigslist on Tuesday August 12. 2014. after it had only been on craigslist for about 10 minutes. I called the owner (who was the original owner). and made him an offer. Between the time we agreed on the price and the time I drove it home. he had already received dozens of calls of offers greater than mine. but he was a man of virtue. and since I was the first one to contact him. the car was mine :) It was a dream come true. an original. low-miles (not as low as some finds. but still nice) crx from the original southern california owner. and I was fortunate enough to be searching around on craigslist that morning. But as car guy. I'm always on the lookout for something else. So now it's time for someone else to enjoy it! I screenshot the ad before the owner had a chance to take it down :) Running condition The car starts the first time. everytime with no hesitation. Shifts smoothly. no grinding. and purrs like a kitten when crusing down the freeway at 80. I would not hesitate one second to hop in it tonight for a cross-country roadtrip. I've already driven the Ridge Route on it 3 times (for road geeks. its one of the steepest grades in the interstate system between Bakersfield and Los Angeles) and it drove perfectly smooth. like a new car. And to any prospective owner. don't worry. I pussyfooted it the entire time. Headlights. rear lights. blinkers work. Sunroof slides and works perfecty. It has a Kenwood stereo system that sounds very good (better than alpine if you ask me) and was installed by the original owner. AC was installed also but by the dealership. It does. however need recharging. The climate control settings work flawlessly besides that. It drives straight as an arrow. takes curves like a champion with no ticking. and idles like it came off the showroom yesterday. The original owner kept it garaged and changed the oil every 5. 00 religiously. Cosmetic Condition The car maintains its original factory paintjob with no major dents or repainted areas. There are some brush touchup spots. but these are no larger than an 1/8 of an inch. with the exception of a scratch on the front bumper. pictured below. Besides that. very slight fading is beginning to occur on the roof and very. VERY slightly on some of the side panels. but you have to look very closely to see it. There is no clearcoat failure. The front painted bumper area has some tiny specks where over time sand and road debris has aged it. as well as the area around the front emblem. There are minor dings around the car. none however. more than a few inches in size. and you have to be looking very closely to see them. All the plastics were treated with products which is why they look so good. No major curb rash on wheels. All interior rear cargo components are present. as well as spare and jack components. All rear panels. cover. and clips are present. Carpets are OEM but well worn. but protect a very good condition carpet. Slight tear in drivers seat on left side. A car alarm was installed at one point. and then later removed when it stopped working. and there are holes left over near the steering wheel from where components poked through. see pics for more details. Slight beginnings of rust on moonroof. Why this car is my favorite I would rather have an old car with the original paint job with some patina before I'd get any new car. This car is exactly that. A classic CRX thats been well cared for by the prior owner with some minor wear. The wear and mileage is what makes me ok with it being my daily driver. if it were 50k miles and factory fresh I'd never want it to leave my garage. But this specimen is still one of the cleanest CRX's out there. clean enough to turn heads wherever I go. but not to the point where I feel guilty everytime the mileage ticks up one. The original owners were a very nice couple from Irvine that have been married for over 30 years and who'd bought the CRX for their son who used it to commute back and fourth from Irvine to UCLA. They swore the car never left the LA area. and never saw snow. They kept it garaged for its entire life. which explains why the clearcoat and paintjob is so excellent. Imperfections I'll save you the disappointment of discovering the imperfections on your own by disclosing every one I'm aware of here. The plastic underneath the oil area came loose and needs to be replaced. It doesnt drag on the ground. but at higher speeds you can hear it flapping. When you use the left turn signal. the signal lights work. but the dash light that corresponds to the ticking is out. As mentioned theres a speck of rust on the sunroof. There are 2 dings side-by-side on the passenger side that have caused slight fading to occur around them. Only noticable up-close. Driver's floormat is very worn. When driver door is opened. you hear two funky and obnoxious clanks that can be heard in the video below. The original owner says it had something to do with when the alarm system was removed. The threading on the shift knob is missing or worn out so it wont tighten onto the main shift pole. Thanks for your attention! This car has never been in an accident. has a clean title and passes smog. Please don't message me and tell me I'm asking too much for this CRX. I have a very low tolerance for trolling or bad business skills. If however you have legitimate questions or concerns. I will bend over backwards to answer your questions. Enjoy these pics and the video. if I can answer any more questions please let me know! :-) Get your own valid XHTML YouTube embed code |
