Description of 1994 Honda Civic VX |
I have here for you an original 1994 Honda Civic VX (EG hatchback) in relatively good condition. This car is known for its excellent mpg, with the average being around 45 city mpg and 50 highway mpg. The car just passed the Virginia safety and emissions inspection yesterday. It's a manual car, and has no mechanical problems that I know of. It comes with the factory light-weight aluminium wheels, along with a pair of rear lower control arms that have not been installed yet. The control arms do have a little bit of rust (see the picture) but nothing major. I've had the car for about 3 months, and have only driven it a few times. I'm a busy student, and I'm selling it for the money. Please see below the complete list of work that I have done on it, and the cosmetic issues the car has. Remember, it's a 24 year old car, so it isn't in like new condition. The car is showing its age, but it's doing it well. Pros - I just finished replacing the front brakes with drilled and slotted rotors along with new pads- New driver's side rear-view mirror.- New hood latches.- Just finished cleaning the interior of the car. It's still not perfect, but it doesn't have that "old car smell" anymore.- The muffler was replaced about 3 years ago, and still has plenty of life in it.- The rear trailing arm bushings were also done 3 years ago or less.- The frame is relatively rust free. See the pictures for the only areas on the body with rust.- No leaks.- The heating works perfectly- Upgraded speakers. Two Kenwood speakers in the two front doors, and two Boston speakers in the back.- The tires have lots of life left. About 70% or more. Cons - The paint job is in serious need of a refresh, and there are a few dents and rust spots here and there, but nothing too bad. See the pictures.- One of the wheels has a bit of curb rash.- The exhaust manifold cover is loose because of some rust that ate away at the bolts.- The AC does not work at the moment. It's still winter, so I cannot diagnose it to find out what the problem is. It isn't the compressor, since the previous owner took it to a shop to be tested, and they said the compressor works fine. No clue as to what it is. The fan is fine however, since the heating works perfectly.- No subwoofer.- The radio doesn't work perfectly - it has a hard time getting reception. The sound system works fine though.- A bit hard to get into 1st gear sometimes, but it still drives fine. It's probably just its age. All in all, it's a pretty good car. There may be other problems that I don't know of, but I have described everything I know about the car. There are very few of these around. Great car for tuning! It's super easy to work on, and there's a plethora of aftermarket parts and accessories for these EG hatchbacks.
