Description of 1980 Honda Acty Street L |
This van, as you may know, was previously on eBay for a higher classified ad price. A fellow eBayer came to test drive and during the test drive the brakes acted up so I killed the listing temporarily. I have now lowered the price, changed it to an auction format instead of fixed price format, and included a detailed description of the current brake issue. Yes this is a lengthy listing but I want you to know everything I know. So, here we go again: For sale is a 1988 Honda Acty Street L van. I listed as a 1980 because that is the only way eBay would accept the non conforming Japanese chassis number. This a Japanese Domesstic Market (JDM) vehicle not originally intended to be sold outside of Japan. It was imported to the US last fall and I am the first US owner. The van has working 4 wheel drive, 5 speed manual transmission with good clutch, and a good running 2 cylinder 550cc engine. It is right hand drive. It has hot heat and a working air conditioner. Lights, signals etc all work. The van is currently plated, insured, and street legal. It now has 89111 kilometers (subject to slight change if I demo the van for someone)which translates to 55371 miles. Speedometer is also in kilometers. It has a 5 digit odometer so you can't tell if it has been flipped over and is really 189111 kilometers. However, I have service records going back to when it was reasonably new and if you follow the kilometers and dates on the records you will likely conclude that the odometer reading is true, but can not be guaranteed. Clear Indiana title reads "exempt" miles as Indiana does not accept kilometers. It seats 4. The front has factory seat belts but was made without rear belts. One aftermarket seat belt has been installed in the back. Another comes with it, not installed. It's a 30 year old van. It shows very well but still has signs of wear. A few touched up chips you would expect on 30 year old vehicle. But mainly make sure you look at the rear gate, it has a noticeable ding. I love the van. Everywhere I go people stop and look at it, which I like because I like to talk to other car enthusiasts. But, I have my eye on a toy that can also tow my camper so I need to get this out of my toy box. BRAKE ISSUE: During a recent test drive, it acted as if the parking brake did not release all the way and was dragging it down. However, after inspection by a qualified person, it was determined that what actually happened is the master cylinder is sticking inside. It was removed from the van. He "manually worked" the master cylinder the way that you would bench bleed a new master cylinder and then put back on. It seems to be operating smoothly now but we apparently made it unhappy because now the seal on the end drips a little brake fluid. I am advertising that this vehicle NEEDS THE MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED OR REBUILT. It operates well enough that I could take you on a demo ride, but I would prefer to be behind the wheel if it acts up again. The only other issue I know on the van is that I leave the manual hand choke out about 1/4 inch for smoothest idle, instead of pushing it all the way in. The van is going to be taken out of storage at my home Tuesday the 17th and relocated to my business in Bluffton Indiana 46714. At that point it can be viewed by appointment weekdays 10am-6pm. Pick up by the winning bidder will also be in BLUFFTON INDIANA 46714 weekdays 10-6 unless other arrangements are agreed to, preferably before auction ending. If you have any questions message me through eBay, I respond promptly. I prefer to sell the van face to face but I would work with a shipper if you arrange it. $200 PayPal deposit due within 24 hours of auction ending. Final payment within 7 days by cash or verifiable certified bank check only. If needed, I can store the van for longer than 7 days as long as it's paid for. Thanks for looking.
