Description of 1989 Honda CRX 1500 CRX SI |
1989 CRX Si with 287,848 miles. This was a Texas car before it came to Florida many years ago. The previous owner had it sitting in his front yard 5yrs when I bought it, and then I revived it. D16A6 was blown-up, so I removed it and swapped a B20B Vtec I rebuilt in my garage. It is my daily driver and has done 3hr road trips. B20 Vtec now has 500+ miles since rebuild. I planned on painting this car myself, but I've learned this is a rare color so I'll leave it up to the new owner. CONS are listed after the Mod List. Compression Test: 209-209-210-210 . No air condition, but I have most parts. Fuel gauge doesn't work, so I add a few gallons here and there. Stock water temp gauge doesn't work, so I use an aftermarket gauge. Rust on the sunroof and passenger side windshield as shown in pics, but no rust anywhere else unless you count the rock chip pittings on the hood (hard to see in pics). The scrapes on the rear bumper I believe was a minor accident with the previous owner, but doesn't affect drivability--the rear bumper support slightly bent when you look down with tail lights removed. The car has other dents & dings, but it's one of the cleaner examples around surprisingly. Lastly, when it rains hard it'll leak into the left tail light which I think is the gasket, as well as the sunroof, so it has a car cover whenever I go on vacation. There's a small leak from the dizzy and oil filter sandwich plate so I would replace those gaskets. ***WHY I'M SELLING***This was a COVID project car this year, and I'm starting a MKIV Supra project. The Y49 CRX taught me a lot about Hondas and thoroughly enjoyed it, but its time to start the next car. For what it's worth, I have no experienced any curse with this car :) .
