Description of 1986 Honda Accord DX

Rare low numbers Accord hatchback very scarce for 86. A rare surviving low mileage clean interior and solid sheet metal exterior with no rust. Most of a rebuilt engine that was never finished due to time and college constraints taking place at the same time It needs TLC and some time Restored '80s Hondas are getting hard to find and clean condition third generation Honda Accord hatchbacks are nearly extinct. We have a title that has been notarized but hasn't been turned over will take us about a week to do so let us know what you need or if you even need it all and we'll follow it from there. We would like to see this go to the right home. This car is going to be a one of a kind rest on my head turner we had intended to go be 20 with it lower it and really put some time and effort into it but we hadn't been able to put the kind of time and effort into it that it needs. This would be a neat first car it wouldn't be too hard to install a manual transmission and a roll cage. There are a lot of options here it's a very versatile frame for its age especially. The 71,000 miles was adult driven so the body is still clean. The tires were installed about 3 years ago, they haven't been driven on but they will have to be replaced The driver's seat has some of the thread coming loose up by the seat belt and the rest of it's in pretty good shape or was before we covered it with seat covers the cloth is all still good on the front driver seats and is very good on the backseat It might be easier to find tyrannosaurus leg than one of these. That being said there are plenty of crx's around but Honda Accord hatchbacks not so much. Engine bay is huge for its era. All of the smog and vacuum hoses have been deleted cuz we were going to install a Weber but we never were able to find the appropriate performance intake that we were looking for and months turned into years. The body is pretty clean, there's no rust. It's been kept under a hail blanket for The last 5 years plus the steel was still thick enough that it was pretty resistant to that kind of stuff anyway, this was back when cars were still made of metal. it would take a good mechanic probably 2 or 3 weeks to get it back on the road A couple of hours a day but parts for this engine are kind of hard to find unless you have another Honda Accord of the same era etc. This was the lower trim. Honda did have a fuel injected trim that would all swap over but it's going to be a lot of work so if you don't know what you're doing read up on it. This was the closest thing we could find to the DeLorean look. All the machine work was done correctly at a machine shop that includes a higher performance prelude head bought off of eBay from professional builder about 3 years ago installed and plugged off. New rings have been installed gapped never started. New Pistons. Rod bearings and crankshaft are new also. We got sidetracked by Family deaths and other projects and it needs to be sold before it becomes a relic. This 1986 Honda Accord is a project vehicle. it had a dented oil pan when we bought it and it read low on oil even though it was overfilled. We had all the machine work done including the block new Pistons new rods. We bought a high performance head off of an A series prelude that was freshly rebuilt. The car has nice door panels even the headliner still looks decent. We've kept it covered and protected from hail for The last 5 years. Project needs to go to someone that can appreciate it and finish it. It had been a 2 owner car before we go got it Unfortunately the guy that sold it to us overfilled it with oil and it only drove for about a month before it started smoking even though it looked like it was perfectly full it was way over full because of a dent in the oil pan that wasn't visible. So we spent about $2,000 getting the engine rebuilt but then never finished the project because we had trouble finding an intake that was carbureted. We did a vacuum delete but never got to get it on the road. It's completing all there the intake and exhaust manifolds are still hanging around there a couple of boxes full of parts in the back. The interior still looks like the 1980s and it's pretty decent no weird smells just been sitting in a field covered with a tarp and cleaned about once a year. There are some minor body issues like a fender dent and a lower door issue and the rear deck lead has a dent left of center. This was a carbureted DX but these cars are like hens teeth nearly impossible to find. It really needs a B series conversion and someone that can finish it and make it right. We would love to see the car finished we just don't have time or money to do it. As far as a third generation honda Accord hatchback DX goes this is one of the rarest cars of the 80's. When this car came out back to the future was still in the movie theaters. We have a clean title on it.

Vehicle Details

1986 Honda Accord hatchback rare as hens teeth. Engine rebuilt machine work done in a machine shop never completed locking a series parts like a custom exhaust manifold and intake. been sitting cover for 5 years boxes of parts interior is amazing for its age that's why we chose it to restore but we just didn't have time and money to do it right. The body style has the pop-up headlights. As far as the body style goes it was a sleek machine that was right up there with the 85 prelude in a lot of ways.

The hatchback of this series is nearly impossible to find in fact the clean interior for this model is nearly impossible to find.

A really easy car to restore. Even easier car to do a B series injected swap on.

It's all there best as I can tell. The door panels look good the windows and window glass are all good no scratches or anything like that it just needs to be fixed and done right.
