Description of 1992 Hummer H1 |
Up for sale is my 1992 Hummer. It was a military M998 which has had a thorough restoration. It is the 6.2L diesel engine. Multiple hours of my own and over 40K was spent in getting this truck to where it is today. I only work on 1 to 2 projects a year and I take pride in what I do. I am not a fast money junk flipping dealer, vehicles are my hobby and passion. I make sure all of my vehicles are in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. I have all mechanical and part receipts and I can send them to you at your request. This truck was originally a troop carrier when I bought it. I don’t need to bore you with the history of this vehicle and write paragraphs of all the specs and what this vehicle is capable of. If you are looking at this ad you most likely already know what this Hummer can do. There are plenty of resellers of ex-military hummers on eBay that buy them from the government and then slap a coat of paint on them, add aftermarket wheels (which some can actually be unsafe and could cause issues), claim that the hummer is in “Awesome shape”, and charge $27,000 for them. This is NOT one of those hummers. All Issues that this Hummer had (and all ex-military hummers have issues) were addressed and corrected. With that said…..Here is a list of everything that I have done: - New hardtop - New hard doors and rear curtain - New seats. - New windshield wipers - New LED headlights (The 24v military grade ones) - New turn signal lights and reflectors - New military grade snorkel - New fuel tank - New fuel sender - New ground wiring - New Glow Plug Controller - New and powerful LG sound system. - Professional PAINT job exterior and dash ($7500) - New bedliner flooring/interior - 24v to 12v Power converter that has 2 power plugs and USB port - Engine serviced by diesel mechanic, all new engine fluids. - Wheels have been professionally balanced - Goodyear Wrangler MT tires with plenty of tread left (see pics) - New oil in Transfer case and every wheel hub - **NEW GEARS AND BEARINGS IN WHEEL HUBS** **Every wheel hub has been taken apart and rebuilt with new bearings and whatever gears that were worn were replaced. CV boots were also replaced where needed. **Please note** Every ex-military hummer that is over 20 years old will need to have the wheel hubs serviced! Most resellers of these hummers do not do this because it is very expensive and time consuming. Some friendly advice for whatever hummer you may end up purchasing, ASK THE SELLER IF THE HUBS HAVE BEEN INSPECTED (The only way to inspect them is to completely take them apart)!! This is a $4000+ job alone if done correctly, and I have the receipts of the parts to prove it from the Hummer Parts Guy! Trust me you do not want to be out on a trail in the middle of nowhere and get stuck because one of your wheel hub gears are stripped out (yes this does happen). It would be an expensive tow home if you can even get one… This hummer is in perfect running condition. The diesel engine is excellent condition, no blow by or any nonsense. It does not overheat. I have driven this hummer in Florida summer heat on the highway and it has never had any issues. All lights/flashers work. All gauges work. Windshield wipers work. The one and only thing that is not functioning on this hummer is the windshield wiper fluid spray. That motor will need to be replaced. The odometer was replaced at some point, so the actual mileage is unknown. And then of course one of the main questions when looking for a used Hummer…is it street legal? Well this hummer is 100% street legal. Has a normal street legal plate and clear FL title! This is NOT one of those “EX- Military license plate” hummers which have highway and road restrictions. You can drive this hummer anywhere. If you want the best of the best then this is your Hummer. Any other questions feel free to ask. |
