Description of 1971 International Harvester Other 1600 |
Available is this unusually nice 1971 IH 160 single car carrier/rollback. It comes with a good running V8 gas engine(345?). quiet 4 speed manual trans and single speed dual rear wheel axle. Bed is fully hydraulic with 3 control levers for slide. tilt and winch. Power comes from a PTO driven off the transmission. PTO control is mounted to the dash. Winch is loaded with new standard length and diameter wire rope cable. Rubber is 900x20. I bought it from an auction in Glassboro NJ 2 years ago thinking of it as a back-up to our F600 but. nbsp; just do not have a need for it. Looks to me that someone put substantial time into restoring this carrier or it is original. as the body is exceptionally clean with minimal rust. Cab floors are solid. cab corners. fenders etc. Actually. the steel bed is in better shape than our daily carrier---no holes or waves in the bed/floor. solid looking up at the under side of bed. ribs. frame. Lights are all functional. Brakes are not so hot---rear wheel cylinders?? Not a complicated system---all hydraulic--non air. Wiper motor needs replacing. Had some thought that this was a government vehicle since it looks green underside of bed and some of the tires appeared military to me. ?? These pics are from when it came in. Since then lights and winch cable have been done. Not the kind of rig I'd recommend for long hauls. Best for local private use for stock car. car meets etc. With some work this could be a nice show piece. Although this is a run and drive truck. expect to roll-up your sleeves and put some time into getting it to where you want it to be. I drove it around town. towed a couple vehicle and drove it into our salvage yard where it is presently stored. Any ?'s. just ask--will have more info shortly at to tire size. length of bed etc. No reserve so. go for it--she needs a good/new home. Can store here til spring. if you like. May be able to help transport--let's talk. Have you heard the joke where the husband asked his wife what she would do if he won the lottery?? She answered. I'd take 1/2 and leave". He said. Looking forward to serving you. 802-685-7799. |
