Description of 1948 International Harvester Other |
1948 International IHC KB5 KB1 NO RESERVE! Wow, what a straight old truck. I buy and sell a few old trucks, but not very often do they look like this. First of all, this is a '48 KB5. The cab is identical to a KB1 I believe, but not positive, the only difference in the body is the fenders. Anyway, I picked this truck up from a very dry part of Kansas, on a farm, and it shows. There is virtually no rust on this truck, just a little spot on the very bottom of fenders. Floors are 100% rock solid. This truck does have a few dings in it, it is, after all, 68 years old, but no major dents. The hood hinges could stand a little adjusting, but hood closes, doors open and close beautifully, etc.. Previous owner did remove the bumper, I'm not sure why, andit has been lost or discarded. Other than that, this truck is extremely complete. Only two of the strips from the chrome grill were missing, and I found one of them behind the seat! I'm not sure if it was an option, or if it has been changed, but this truck has a valve in head engine instead of the flathead. It is an IHC engine, I'm assuming out of a later truck, but I did have a '48 KB7 years ago that was a valve in head engine also, so I'll let you decide. The engine runs great, doesn't smoke, carries good oil pressure, and runs cool. The transmission shifts well, the dump bed goes up and down like new, even the brakes work! Although I did have to put in brake fluid and pump them up, so they do need to be checked over. This truck has nearly new tires, as far as tread goes, they are a little weathered, but are still very serviceable. This truck even has all 4 of its original hubcaps! As you can see in the pictures, its going to need some glass, but all of it is flat glass and thus very cheap. The seat has an old cover on it, and will need to reupholstered or at least a new seat cover. The title for this truck was lost and I have applied for a new one, which is very simple in Kansas, and I have done many times. I will provide a State of Kansas bill of Sale upon purchase and guarantee a clean clear title in my name within 30 days. Please check my feedback from previous sales. This truck will need a battery, but I have one to use for loading purposes. Overall, I would plan on spending a day or 2 on general routine maintenance, belt, hoses, oil change etc. - and you'll be cruising down the boulevard. My name is Cort - 620-786-5172 - Please call or text with any questions you may have, and I don't mind the truck sitting here a reasonable amount of time, as long as its paid for. Thank you, and good luck. |
