Description of 1961 International Harvester Scout |
1961 International Harvester Scout 80 If you are looking for a project rebuild this one is very special. Outside of the Peterson automotive museum, I have yet to come across anyone that has an older one than this truck FC10287. The Line setting ticket shows that I was built in April of 1961. This one was ordered fully loaded with quite a few extremely rare options for this truck. It was sold from the Los Angeles dealership on 4501 Alameda Street and stayed in dry California all of its life so far. It is all-original except the front and read bumpers. I will bullet some of the options you almost never see on the Internet. - 4th shifter for overdrive - Dual gas tanks - Chrome interior detail All of the glass is in great condition; it originally came with the long and short top. I only have the short cab top. The windows are unique to 61, 62 and early 63 in that they are duel sliders, no crank. The front windshield folds forward and locks to the hood, The design allows the hood to open and lock to windshield while working under the hood. The tailgate changed in 63 to read Scout instead of the original Harvester logo. I had the front bench seat professionally reupholstered. I had a body shop clean up the exterior metal and protect it with primer. Mechanically it needs to be loved from soup to nuts. The motor is not frozen but I have not attempted to start it. I have the original sales brochure, owner’s manual and line setting ticket. Odometer reads 5400 but only goes out 6 places so it turns to zeros at 100K. Different world back then. Currently registered, clean title and ready to go. |
