Description of 1977 International Harvester Scout |
Sadly I have to sell this scout. I no longer have the time to finish restoring it. I am the third owner of this Arizona Scout, it was bought here brand new and has stayed so there has been no major threat of rust. The body is in pretty good shape except for a dent on the front passenger fender (see pic). This year I dropped in a finely rebuilt transmission that has only 2000 miles on it. I also replaced the power steering box and pump as well as new brake booster. It has a new water pump, fan clutch and aluminum radiator. I have met both previous owners and they claim that the mileage on the vehicle is the original miles, under 70,000. I put in a new speedometer so those miles are not correct. The vehicle starts and runs fine, a little harder in the winter months. It does need a new ignition considering you can start it without a key. The air conditioning was removed some years ago but the heater works just fine, I installed a new heater core last year. The interior does need work, the carpets were removed and the seats have seen better days. 4WD functions, new locking hubs, but the transfer case will need new seals and to be overhauled. The scout does leak oil and transmission fluid, i need to top both off a few times a year. The transmission just needs a new pan gasket. Again, the body is pretty solid, needs new paint, surface rust has started showing where the paint has chipped off. All windows are in solid shape, will need new seals though, it does get a little drafty. All in all this is a solid truck, it was fun while it lasted, but getting a divorce and just wont be able to keep up with it anymore. Any questions feel free to ask and I will answer the best that I can. Thankyou and goodluck |
