Description of 1979 International Harvester Scout II |
1979 California Scout II Barn Find 345 V8, Auto Trans, 4x4, Convertible, A/C, PS/PB Up for Auction is this super solid and highly optioned CA Scout II. Rescued this Iconic SUV from the dry desert of California. It hadn’t been on the road since 1982! Checked and flushed all the fluids and it fired right up without any issues…drove it home 175 mi without even so much as a hiccup!. The Big 345 ran awesome with plenty of power. It’s got the very desirable 4bbl Carb! She looks to be completely stock and original including all the emission garbage. Original A/C intact but guessing it’s discharged. Power steering & power brakes with discs up front. Bullet proof Dana’s front and rear. Mileage shows 14146 but there is no way to verify actual mileage. It does appear to have a small exhaust leak that is kind of annoying but other than that, she runs great! The 727 tranny works and shifts like it should! Brakes work great but she definitely need a new pair of shoes…the current tires are weather checked pretty bad due to age and sitting. The Scout rolls on very rare and original (5) Rallye Wheels. The body is incredibly solid with virtually zero cancer except for one small spot in front of passenger rear tire…not bad at all. The exterior has a very cool patina to it with only surface rust showing. The paint and stripe kitis not show quality but looks period correct and matches the Scouts personality with only a few minor bumps and bruises for its 38 years of age. The fender lips, rockers, quarters, floor boards, cargo area and body mounts are perfect, see the pics and especially check out the body mounts! The interior is complete and original but will need to be recovered. Has the original under dash A/C. All gauges/lights work with the exception of a dreaded fuel gauge (shocker)…they always go bad and probably just needs a new sender at the tank. Floors look great and solid. I’m pretty confident the top has never been off because the door seals look original and have never been cut. All the glass is in great shape and perfect. The Topper glass has the desirable sliding side glass which is a bonus. These later Year Scouts are by far the best looking and are more modern equipped with better brakes and better Dana’s. The California Title is clear, signed and ready to go. Serious bidders only…please check with your boss before clicking that “Bid” box. This true American Icon is so fun to drive and draws attention everywhere it goes. Fairly priced with a low reserve. Would make a great Tax Refund gift for that special person. Where else are going to find a great Scout like this that is not totally rusted out and not a POS for under 8K? Restored, they are pulling ridiculous money which makes it a great investment! Haggerty Insurance said this about International Scouts: “International Scouts SUV’s are up by 85%” and that “These SUV’s are going to be the next big thing”.
**PLEASE REALIZE THAT THISVEHICLE IS USED, THE BODY AND PAINT ARE NOT PERFECT AND HASFLAWS. IT IS APPROX38 YEARS OLD, IS NOT A “100 POINT” SHOW CAR BUT RATHER A VINTAGE SUV.
