Description of 1973 International Harvester Scout |
I have decided to sell my 1973 Scout to thin out my projects. I purchased this vehicle over a year ago in the Seattle WA area. and was then transferred to Midland TX. Durning this time it seems that i just can't come up with enough time to invest in what I want to do with this Scout. If your a Scout enthusist like myself you can see it's a great starting point. There are a few issues that will need to be address to get it crusing down the road again. I will try and list everything to the best of my ability. Running sluggish once it hits around 40 mph - it ran fine (very powerfull engine) when it was loaded on the truck hauler in Seattle; however. once unloaded here it hasn't run good since (idles fine!). I had noticed some corrosion stuff in the MDS distributor. so I just went ahead and bought a new one - that didn't fix it. I am thinking it has to be a carb jetting issue. I was looking at installing fuel injection anyway (again. just haven't got to it). You could look at rejetting it. or just buying a new carb. This was going to be my next step anyway. Chevy 350 engine (above shows 345 - ebay made me put that in)Dings and dents from previous owner riding trailsCracked windshieldDoes have automatic that has a "Heavy Duty" upgradeWarn Winch on front (does not have extra battery hooked up to it. never put it through trials)Has soft top and bikini top (soft top not show quality) - no hard topHave new. never installed soft doors. but no framesHas back axle leak out of front seal. Box welded frameMileage unknown. again ebay made me put something in that slotBrakes work fine. but that was going to be one of my first upgrades (looking to do an Astro van hydrobooster conversion)Installed a brand new aluminum 3 core radiator (which is why the hood is off in the pictures - hood a different color and shown in one of the pictures)Already mentioned. but put on a brand new MSD distributor - should be timed yet. Need front driveshaft connected. (guy I bought if from said the front axle was his last project on it and didn't finish hooking it up) - not many trails in Midland TX. just been driving it in 2 wheel :)Does have atlas transfer caseHas heavy duty bumper pull. which works pretty good. You can hook it up to your truck. pull it to the trails. then home. This thing needs a weekend to get it puring down the road again. and then from there it's up to you. I hate the idea of selling it. but I think that it is the best thing for me to do right now. let someone else enjoy it. I will be more than happy to help load it on a truck from my end. If you have any questions please feel free to email me. Understand that I am not a gear head. but I will try to answer any question the best I can. |
