Description of 1964 International Harvester Scout Half Cab |
1964 International Scout 80 4X4 Half Cab Description 1964 International-Harvester Scout 80 4×4 Half Cab Extensive ground up, nut and bolt restoration The next-to-last year for the original Scout Dry southern California truck Aegean Aqua and Cameo White exterior and removable roof Leather interior 152 CID inline four-cylinder engine Three-speed manual transmission Custom oak-and-aluminum bed complete with Coleman cooler Modified to keep factory specs with upgraded luxurious accentsIs it possible to restore a vehicle too much? You be the judge as you visit MotoeXotica Classic Cars to see this 1964 International-Harvester Scout 80 4×4 pickup truck. This truck has spent most of its existence in dry, sunny southern California. Its previous owner went to great lengths to find and acquire a sturdy source vehicle for which to embark on his restoration project. The truck was taken apart, striped and repainted about four months ago in Aegean Aqua with Cameo White accent stripes and on the removable roof. Then, it was topped with numerous clear coat layers. Therefore, the paint and trim on this truck are nothing less than excellent. The glass panels are in near-excellent condition, clear and crack-free. The windshield folds down and there are separate motors for the driver and passenger windshield wipers. The truck's lights are in similar fine order. This Scout rides on Goodyear Wrangler RT/S tires at all four corners, sized 235/75R15, surrounding vented alloy wheels and locking hubs up front. All of the truck's body panels are straight and solid. The engine bay is very tidy, the bumpers look great and the battery appears new. Out back is where this truck really sets itself apart from other pickups and four-wheelers. Every wooden piece in the bed has been hand crafted out of oak and protected by almost a dozen coats of automotive clear coat on all sides. This assures that the wood on the cargo floor and the benches over the wheel wells remain unblemished, if for some sad reason, this vehicle gets caught in the rain. The gorgeous woodwork is complimented by gleaming diamond-plate aluminum underneath. Fixed atop the bedsides, are custom, hand-made, oak handrails that accent the bodylines and rest upon polished stainless steel stand-offs. In the center of the bed is a classic, steel Coleman cooler that has been painted to match the vehicle and is complete with International Scout emblems. Inside, the original vinyl bucket seats have been reupholstered with a high grade white leather and are in excellent order and they even smell fantastic! There is no carpet, predictably, but there are two sets of black floormats atop the metal floor. The instrument panel with its faux woodgrain trim for warmth is unique and looks great. The original, four-spoke steering wheel is in very good condition, as are the complementing aqua door panels with white trim elements. The mirror glass in very good shape and so is the shift lever. This is a radio delete model. Scout 80s were built between 1960 and 1965. These models were identifiable by removable sliding side windows in 1960-1961 and even some very early 1962 models, a fold-down windshield, vacuum windshield wipers mounted to the top of the windshield and an IH logo in the center of the grille. The Scout 80 had the gasoline-powered 152 four-cylinder as its standard engine. This truck has been tastefully restored and modified to retain a factory and period correct design and feel with luxurious accents upgraded throughout. It is not intended to go rock crawling or mudding on weekends, this truck is meant to cruise a white sandy beach, tour the back 40 on their country manor, or give their grand kids a hay ride.
