Description of 1959 International Harvester Other 4x4 3/4 Ton Pickup Truck

1959 International Harvester B120 4x4 3/4 ton pickup truck, with the 8-ft step-side bed, smooth running 266 V8 engine, and four on the floor manual gearbox.

Black plate California survivor. Clean title in hand. Selling before moving overseas.

Older repaint in white, originally mint green.

Cool bed side shovel and axe brackets installed for delivery to the U.S. Forestry Service.

Step side for easy payload tending, easily accommodates 4x8 stacks of sheet rock or plywood flat with the tail gate shut.

Sale includes original owner's manual, two-volume copy of the 1959 IH Truck Service Manual, copy of line setting ticket (factory build sheet), maintenance records, and box of parts.

The Good:

Body and frame overall solid with a nice patina. Metal trim, badging, and door handles all there with minor pitting.

Dashboard uncut. Upholstery and pedal rubber in good shape. Floor panels have surface rust but solid underneath.

266 V8 starts and runs well. Newer galvanized exhaust system. Puff of blue smoke on first start of the day quickly clears up as engine warms.

Gear box shifts smoothly through all speeds, including reverse and ultra-low granny 1st.

4WD controls, transfer case, drive shafts and wheel lockers intact but in full disclosure I've never tried the 4WD in the years I've owned it. Drives fine in 2WD.

Steering damper retrofitted to tame steering wheel whip-around during cornering.

The Bad:

Brakes are not working properly at this time; the truck will need to be trailered until fixed. This is a recent development I no longer have time to address before sale. Likely a master cylinder issue; update of the single reservoir master to a boosted dual design is strongly recommended anyway.

Windshield wiper motor was rebuilt once but trips circuit breaker built into the switch.

Turn signal switch works intermittently, likely due to worn contacts.

Heater, horn, and rear flood light are inoperative.

The Ugly:

Glove box door won't stay shut due to broken latch.

Dents in left rear fender corner and front left near wheel well (see pictures).

Character crease in upper tail gate top, still opens and closes securely.

Spare tire included, bed side mounting bracket is missing. Bracket holes in sidewall are all intact.

Passenger door hinge is loose, needs to be re-welded. Door opens and shuts with gentle support.

Driver and passenger side glass is cracked. Rear glass and passenger wing window are fine. Small crack on driver side windshield corner has not progressed since I've owned it.

Rubber boots / seals for doors, 4WD levers, steering column, clutch, and gear shift are worn or missing.

Bottom Line: Unique, stout, well-running survivor, factory 4x4 IH truck with an interesting history. Ready for your restoration, resto-mod, or drive it vintage with a few timely fix-ups. Offered with low reserve or BIN for the successful bidder with an appreciation for this brawny American classic.

Full payment due within seven days of winning bid or BIN. Buyer arranges shipping and pick-up. Vehicle is also available for sale locally so the auction may end at any time.
