Description of 1948 International Harvester KB5 |
Up for sale is my personal "48" international rat rod. I've spent a lot of hours building and driving this truck. I really don't want to sell it, but we're considering moving soon and don't foresee having the room to garage this anymore. Some highlights about this unique build: Drivetrain- *On a 1996 s10 extended cab chassis shortened down 12" using original rear axle (3.42 ratio open diff) all brakes have been replacedas well as anew master cylinder. (not power brakes) adjustable proportioning valve to adjust as needed. New KYB shocks. No power steering. Has new mustang II rack & pinion with custom fabrication bracket. steers with ease. 1.5" spacers used to offset 15" x 8" camaro rally wheels with new 275 60 15 tires.Newbeauty rings on rims. Driveshaft is oem s10 with new U-joints *Engine is out of a 1996 Caprice V8 converted over to carburetor with HEI distributor and edelbrock 600 carburetor. Accessories are simple, 1 wire GM alternator as well as a new water pump. Uses no oil, blows no smoke. Exhaust is manifolds from Caprice dual'd to 2 turbo tube mufflers with turndowns before axle.(all welded) new aluminum radiator with electric fan. Stays below 190 at all times. New ACDELCO fuel pump at rear of fuel tank pushes fuel to carburetor. *Transmission is3 speed manual out of a 1963 C20 pickup with aftermarket floor shifter. Clutch/pressure plate are new oem replacements with new hydraulic setup slave and masterfrom speedway motors. *Cab- floor & firewall modifications were performed to move engine back and raise floor for a more modern transmission. All glass has been replaced as well as all door, windshield, rear glass, etc weather stripping. Front cowl vent works as well as crank out windshield. Door glass rolls up and down. Windshield wipers area not hooked up at this time, though motors are available. (never drove in rain) Seat is OEM bench s10 seat out of 90 s10, has been painted with interior paint. No seat belts installed. stickers inside above widshield header, rear glass, and on old gas filler location to add some visual appearance. battery cut-off switch added to driver side bed. bed top removes by sheet metal screws if you need access to tank, battery, pump, etc *Lights all work with new LED rear lights and new 12v headlights. hi/low headlight switch on floor. 2 12v accessory plugs also under dash. Gauges are under dash cluster as the oem cluster would probably need rebuild to function. Speedo is not hooked up, just needs a cable. battery is located behind cab in bed. Wiring all new front to back. Fuse block on passenger firewall inside. This truck rides close to the ground as possible, but still rides great as no suspension lower has been done, oem s10 suspension with exception to the rack and pinion addition steering. Truck is fast! its so light that you will be surprised at the speed this thing will move! it is a rat rod and is not perfect, but a great driver. I trust it to drive anywhere. |
