THE NEW SEAT UPHOLSTERY MIMICS THE ORIGINAL STYLE AND COLOR OF THE CHAMPAGNE SEATS. (55 YEAR OLD VINYL PANELS HAVE 'SHRUNK' TO A SMALLER SIZE SINCE NEW) NEW LEFT DOOR WINDOW CRANK HANDLE AM RADIO AND BEZEL REMAIN IN DASH (RADIO TURNS ON AND SPEAKER OPERATES) HEATER BLOWER FAN WORKS ON HIGH AND LOW, HEAT AND DEFROST WORK. (Per a well known Scout author) 2 STAGE PAINT: THE FULL EXTERIOR BODY WAS STRIPPED TO BARE METAL. NECESSARY WELDING WAS PERFORMED AND STEEL OUTER ROCKER PANELS WERE FABRICATED / MIG WELDED IN PLACE. SMALL DENTS WERE REPAIRED AND THE BARE STEEL WAS SPRAYED WITH METAL ETCH PRIMER, FOLLOWED BY CATALYZED PRIMER SURFACER OVER THE COMPLETE EXTERIOR. THE PRIMER WAS ALLOWED TO CURE AND WAS WET BLOCK SANDED BY HAND. THE FULL EXTERIOR, HOOD JAMBS, DOOR JAMBS, INSIDE DOOR EDGES, INSIDE WINDSHIELD EDGES WERE BASECOATED WITH PPG BASECOAT, FOLLOWED BY CLEAR COATS OF A HIGH GLOSS URETHANE CLEAR. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY RUNS OFF OF PASSENGER SIDE FUEL TANK. I HAVE NOT USED THE DRIVERS SIDE TANK ALTHOUGH IT, ALONG WITH THE FLOOR SWITCH AND DASH FUEL SWITCHES ARE PRESENT. OIL PRESSURE GAUGE INDICATES OIL PRESSURE IS GOOD AND COMES UP FAST. AMP GAUGE ALSO WORKING. I HAVE DRIVEN THE SCOUT ONLY ON THE PROPERTY AND HAVE NOT USED IT AS A DAILY DRIVER. I HAVE SHIFTED THE LEVERS IN AND OUT OF 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND HAVE LOCKED THE HUBS, TESTED HIGH AND LOW RANGE, WHICH OPERATE. TRANSMISSION SHIFTER FEELS TIGHT AND I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THE SCOUT TO ONLY HAVE 75,XXX TOTAL MILES ON IT. (TURN SIGNAL LEVER FEELS VERY TIGHT WHEN MOVING IT, INDICATING LOW USAGE TO ME) I WAS TOLD BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER THAT IT WAS REGULARLY DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 1 YEAR AGO.
