Description of 1970 International Harvester Loadstar 1700 4X4 |
I have been investing in and building this truck for 20 years. The Lady of the House says it must go. Engine: 392 SV V8 4-Barrel Standard Cooling recently rebuilt. No ring ridge, cam and lifters look new. Fresh Fel-Pro head gaskets, front crank seal, NOS (nice!) Front Damper. New Water Pump, Hoses. Fresh 1-Wire Alternator. Holley 4160 carb rebuilt. Pertronix Ignition. Clean inside. Runs Strong. Fresh Interstate Battery. New Electric Fuel Pump. Air Brakes: Changeover to Air Brakes in process. Compressor kitted. New Hoses. New Governor. System pumps up quickly and quietly. Foot Brake Valve fresh. Rear Axle Air Actuators refurbished. Spring Brakes work great. New lines quick release valve and flex hoses to Axle. Air Pressure Recovery excellent. The Front Axle under the truck is a Hydraulic Brake axle. Air Brake Front axle is in the bed. Quick Install. This truck jacks itself with the outriggers. Brakes work well. Do not exceed 20 MPH until Front Axle is changed to Air Brake. The whole parts kit is on the truck to finish the Air Brake changeover. The stock air tank will fit under the truck after exhaust replacement. Current exhaust is crap. Stock air tank in the bed. FRONT DRIVE AXLE: IH FA-59 Coleman manufactured Front Drive Axle. There are two Front Axles with the truck. They are very valuable. The Air Brake Axle has 40,000 easy well-maintained miles on it (ex-USN truck). Axle Ratio 7.17. 45 MPH top speed. 5-Speed Direct in Fifth Transmission AUXILIARY TRANSMISSION:Brown-Lipe Model 5831B 3-Speed Auxiliary Transmissionincluded but not installed.2.5 LOW, Direct in Second, .83 Overdrive in ThirdAlso included are a stock IH Brownie Trans Mount, Remote Shifter, and Shift Rods, Driveshaft for between main and brownie boxes. This will get you some good road speed. This is a very valuable set of parts. Tranny in good condition. Transfer Case: BigT-155 divorced transfer case with 2.50 Low Range and Full Power PTO to drive the Digger Derrick. Crane/Digger Derrick: Tel-E-Lect Model 100. We have installed Power Poles with the truck. It works smoothly. We used it quite a bit to help folks set equipment and vehicles and equipment on and off trailers, etc. It picks up heavy stuff nicely and moves it around smoothly and easily. Crane rated 8,000 pounds scoped in up tight. 18 Foot of stick scoped out. Tip of Boom is at 28 Feet Above the Deck when Full Up and Scoped Out.16.5" X 6 Foot Auger stows on the side of the Boom when not in use. Outriggers are strong and stable, easy to deploy. Operation Maintenance and Service Manual included. Small hydraulic leak when operating the hoist. Book shows easy disassembly and repair. Big Rear Winch in the front of the bed. It's a moose, driven from the Digger hydraulics. Front Winch Bumper and PTO Driven Winch stashed in the bed, Manual Steering works well, easy to drive. Extra Steering Wheel/Steering Column in the bed.Power Steering Gear and Power Steering Pump in the bed if you want to change to power steering. Wheels and Tires: Lots of tread on 9.00-20 Tube Type Tires. Wheels good shape. New U-Bolts and Spring Center Bolts when we installed the Air Brake Rear Axle. This truck runs good down the road, it's fun to drive. After Brownie Transmission install, it will be an awesome truck. Great ground clearance. It was built to install power poles off-road over rough terrain. If you install the Brownie Tranny, First Gear, Low Brownie Gear Low Range will give a super low crawl ratio. Collection of spare parts included. Line Setting Sheet for the Truck included. Clean Title. Currently Registered as a California Historical Vehicle, Non-operational Status. MAX GVW 25,000 Pounds Wheelbase 151 Inches SHIPPING: Truck weighs 14,900 Pounds empty. There's probably 2,000 pounds of spare parts on the truck, for a shipping weight of 17,000 Pounds. It is 19' 6" Long, 7' 6" Wide, and 10' 4" High. It will be expensive to transport this truck. uShip.com provided bids of $1600 to ship this truck 1000 miles. NOTICE TO PROSPECTIVE BUYERS: TRUCK IS LOCATED IN SAN DIEGOBe prepared to pay for Shipping. I sold an old IH truck to a kid that didn't plan for the shipping from San Diego to Connecticut. It took months before he had a plan. This truck needs to move soon. $250 Cashback if it leaves by May 20th. If you own it after May 20th and it's still at my place, we will have to arrange for storage or ship to intermediate yard.HAVE A PLAN IN PLACE BEFORE YOU COMMIT TO BUY. The truck is drive-able and operable as-is. If you complete all the intended modifications, it will be an awesome, powerful, fun vehicle. The gull-wing hoods are easy to work with and under. The Loadstar is an iconic piece of transportation history. The cab is in good shape, the bench seat is nice. All the glass is good. It's been well-loved. |
