Description of 1989 Isuzu Trooper II |
Vehicle Details I bought this a couple of years ago as a pandemic project to keep busy and to facilitate my numerous outdoor adventures. but like I said, my kids don't want to drive stick and I have a 3rd Gen 4Runner with auto transmission that I also fully rebuilt. This Trooper comes with an extensive printed history of work done to it over the years and original owners manuals. Mostly a CA & AZ car, so no rust issues. The first thing I did was to have an experienced Japanese auto shop replace the head gasket and give it a full tuneup. At that time I had the motor mounts replaced, the transmission fully serviced, the clutch adjusted and a new muffler installed. Shocks are performing great and as far as I know it doesn't need anything at this point in time. Tires are nearly brand new, and it comes with a set of studded snow tires that have one season nine of them. Air-conditioning blows ice cold. Heat works wonderfully. After sorting the mechanical to my exacting satisfaction, the cosmetics and interior fun stuff came next. I had all of the seats rebuilt with brand new foam and covered in thick two-tone leather. New headliner, NOS door panels and a new carpet kit with custom cut rubber mats completed the major interior refresh. Massively upgraded Alpine stereo system with Morel speaks and Alpine subwoofer under the seat (custom level control under dash) custom back up camera and LCD monitor round out the entertainment system. Custom cup holder in the center console. All guages work 100%. Everything works mechanically except for the rear defrost. I just haven't had a chance to sort, nor has it been an issue. I love the dual rear doors! Excellent utility! As far as the exterior is concerned, it has a custom roof rack, top quality upper LED light bar, round fog lights and rear LED light. All accessory lights can be switched on and off individually as needed. Comes with a set of high quality red traction boards. There's been various adventure stickers and reflective safety decals applied. I'll leave it up to the new owner to either keep or remove as desired. Window rubber could be replaced as there is some rattle. I used clear silicone in the wind wings to stop leaks. Window tint is missing a small piece in rear window. Hood lid is slightly bent where it joins the body but opens and closes just fine. Runs, drives and steers nice and straight. Starts up easily every time in any weather. Normal wear to the body with mumerous nicks, dings, faded paint and scratches, aling with surface rust. Four-wheel-drive works perfectly and it climbs like a goat. It's not the fastest vehicle on the road, but it will cruise comfortably at 70 miles an hour on the freeway. |
