Description of 1956 Jaguar XK

This a car for somebody who wants a Jaguar XK-140 without the inherent hassles of owning the original article. Everybody loves the styling of a 1950s Jaguar Roadster. But who wants the maintenance?
I originally bought this car because I had always wanted a Jaguar XK140. Yet I knew of the high maintenance, nd didn't really want to own a car that would be in the shop more often than on the road!
Reasons why this car makes sense:
  • This car has an AUTOMATIC transmission. Easy to drive with no shifting hassles.
  • It has a 4-cyl Ford Mustang engine, hich is easy to work on, nd parts are so common that you can buy them at your local auto part store!
  • Equipped with a CD player! Are you really going to find an original with a CD player? Nope. No tunes there!
  • It is meant for cruising and enjoying, ot fussy shows and expensive high maintenance ownership.
  • The original, enuine article costs $150,000 and then you're going to be afraid of scratching it or getting a door ding!

This car started its life a 1952 Jaguar XK120 roadster kit car, nd it is titled thusly. However, t has been upgraded with chrome and trim to become an XK140, he much better looking late-series model made in 1956 and 1957. From 1952 to 1955 Jaguar made the XK-120, nd then in 1956 they added some lovely chrome to make the XK-140. It's much more elegant, nd better looking than the XK120. (do a google search on that)
It is EXTREMELY RARE to find an XK-140 replica. Go ahead, o a web search and try. You probably will not be able to find one anywhere. Plenty of the XK-120 models, owever. Why? The Chrome Trim, hich really "makes" the car, osts big bucks. We're talking thousands of dollars in just the bumpers alone. The chrome badges, tc. Most people do not opt for these upgrades because the XK120 is passable.
Take a good hard look at the differences between the XK120 and the XK140. The 140 is the clear winner.
Mechanical: ready to go! It has a strong running Ford Mustang 4-cyl engine. An extremely common and easy to work on engine. You can buy parts for it at your local auto parts store, nlike the horrendous 1950s Jag engines.
Cosmetic: This really becomes a question of how anal retentive you are. The paint looks good from 20 feet away (as you can see in the pictures). But if you want a show car, ou will want to repaint it and do some work. There are blemishes in the paint. It's not perfect inside or out. However, get people asking me all the time "is it an original?". If you have to ask, he answer to that question is always "YES!". ;) So maybe the imperfect paint speaks moreso as a patina? It's really a matter of personal choice or opinion. Everybody has different standards of what they want. If you want a new Lexus convertible with heated seats and cruise control... this is not the car for you. This is a very unique and special car that turns heads where-ever it goes. People stop and stare. They ask questions. It's a crowd pleaser because it is one of the most attractive cars ever made.
Payment & Terms: Please ask all questions PRIOR to bidding. Car is sold as-is, here-is, n Lake Chelan, A with no warranties express or implied. I have done the best job I can of describing this car. It is up to the bidder to check out the car in person, o ascertain that the actual condition is to their expectations and satisfaction. If you opt not to come see the car in person, ou are always taking a risk that it "isn't what you want". I will not be responsible for "wasn't what I thought", uyers remorse, ife wouldn't let me, hange of heart, tc. Your bid is a legal contract to purchase the car for the price that you bid. There are other people bidding, nd this is a NO RESERVE auction, nd it will sell for the HIGH BID. I do this to encourage bidding, nd because I am serious about selling the car. Payment must be in the form of cash, ire transfer, r cashier's check. No other forms of payment will be accepted.
Shipping: You can pick the car up (zipcode 98831), r I will be happy to meet the shipping agent of your choice. It is fairly easy to find one these days, nd from my experience, ross country shipping is only like $700-$1000 in most cases. It's up to you to arrange shipping.
Why I am selling: I am getting a new car and need to proceeds from this car to fund it.
