Description of 1967 Jaguar 420 |
For your consideration I present my lovely English daily driving gentleman companion Uncle Matthew. Uncle Matthew is my 1967 Jaguar 420 who looks absolutely marvelous for his age. He is named after my favorite Nancy Mitford character and the name suits him perfectly. I purchased Uncle Matthew in 2013 when I was undergoing cancer treatment and thought if I must trundle back and forth to the hospital for treatments that made me feel simply dreadful I should do it in high style. I had always wanted to own a '67 Jaguar (a great year and incidentally the year of my birth) so in a way you might say Uncle Matthew was a bit of a bucket list check off. I found my beautiful Jaguar in San Rafael, alifornia and I was also very fortunate to find an honest and highly skilled British mechanic blocks from the dealership where I acquired the car. Clint at British Car Repair completed approximately $7,000 worth of repairs to the vehicle before he was shipped North to his new home in Portland. I am pleased to report that my cancer is in remission and with our lovely daughter heading off to college this Fall, y husband and I are planning a move back to my beloved Puget Sound. We will be relocating to a small island in the San Juan archipelago that has a tiny ferry terminal, eneral store, ost office, one room red school house with a bell, wo orders of Catholic nuns, alt air, irt roads and one resident reclusive Microsoft billionaire. Unfortunately, he island does not have a mechanic or a perish the thought a tow truck. Our home will be situated at the end of a long rutted gravel road which is hardly the ideal environment for such a beautiful, ell maintained and urbane vehicle. On a seven square mile island it is hard for me justify a second car when a bulk of our errands will be run in a little putt-putt boat to one of the larger surrounding islands. Uncle Matthew is loved by our entire family, s a pure delight to drive and always attracts considerable attention. Behind the wheel I find I sit a little straighter as if I am magically transported back to a more genteel and refined time, congested city street becomes an English country lane and if I did't know better I might find myself floating through the pages of a Kingsley Amis novel. The California car has been meticulously maintained and garaged throughout it's lifetime and looks and drives likes a dream. Uncle Matthew has never let me down. He starts every time and is timed to run smoothly making him a terrific daily driver. I have invested approximately $20,000.00 in the car with particular attention to the mechanics to ensure safe, mooth and consistent performance. The only alterations I have made to the interior and exterior are five brand new Vredestein tires and a professional and thorough detailing. It is my hope that this wonderful car will find an appreciative and loving home and continue to be treasured for the jewel he is. Low reserve. Mechanical Repairs Completed:
