In the last few years the foreign sports cars of the 1960s and the 1970s have become shooting stars. Cars like the Porsches, aserati, errari and certainly the Mercedes 300SL are among those cars. The new comer to the foreign collector car "shooting star"craze is certainly the Jaguar E-Type (aka Jaguar XK-E). For a long time they were selling at very attractively low prices and are now starting to make their climb. This is a great opportunity in this marketplace to purchase one of the most beautifully designed sports cars, ne that handles like a dream and is exceedingly fast (especially for its day). Remember that on its release Enzo Ferrari called it "The most beautiful car ever made", according to Classic Car Review 1964, rticolo di Sean Curtis). Quite a compliment coming from Enzo Ferrari!
The car in this auction, 1968 Jaguar XK-E 2+2, s a wonderfully solid car that the current owner purchased from the original owner's estate. The original owner is said to have been a fastidious bachelor who maintained his Jaguar with a diary of every thing he did to it...the current seller says that the diary even includes when the car was washed! The car has its original interior that is not perfect but very nice, nd is a true survivor. The current seller says that very little was done to modify the original car except for routine maintenance items.
For those who don't know it, aguars could do well over 140 mph top speed, ero to 60 in just under 7 seconds. Today these Jaguars will attract as much attention going down the road as they did when they first came out in 1961. We prefer phone calls 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. CST 847-774-4857
The seller has provided us with the following detail. Seller purchased this car from the original owner's estate. He was told that the seller was an engineer and an old bachelor who was incredibly meticulous about details. The original owner kept a very complete diary of everything that he did to the car that included car washings! The seller has been told that keeping a diary was a British custom. The original owner sold his 1963 Jaguar to buy this 1968 Jaguar. He would drive it everyday to work but stored the Jaguar in the winter. When the original owner had passed away the car had not been driven in 14 years. After the seller purchased the car he sorted out the car to get it back to good running condition. The seller tells us that he would not hesitate to take the car for a 100-mile jaunt anytime. Seller has told us that very little has been done to modify the original car except routine maintenance items. The Jaguar has its original black leather interior. The seller also stated that the car has a dealer option AM/FM radio. Original tool kit — the big black bag in the trunk. 5 spoke wheels — the spare is located under the trunk floor. The car has a vinyl mat instead of carpet. The Air Conditioning does not blow cold but the fan works and the seller thinks the car may need a charge. The seller says he has the original window sticker and the original sales slip. See details below. Details from the original sales slip. XK-E's in general today are a wonderful opportunity for a fantastic collectible car that is fun to drive and can travel in long distances in comfort and speed. The original owner owned this particular 1968 Jaguar XK-E until four years ago when the second owner purchased it from the estate. Cosmetically this car has plenty of patina and is offered at a reserve that makes it a car that all can bid to win.
If you are a serious collector looking to enter the XK-E market, his car is a solid investment. It is also a great car for an existing XK-E collector that knows a gem when he sees it. Either way you can bid with confidence.
