Vehicle Overview 1968 JAGUAR XKE CONVERTIBLE 4.2 E-TYPE - RESTORED | HISTORY OF THE 1968 JAGUAR E-TYPE: This vehicle is a 1968 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 1/2 Roadster. There were only 771 examples of the Series 1.5 Roadster ever made. The Series 1 1/2 added many improvements in drivability including a 4.2-liter engine upgrade and improved synchromesh gearbox. The cockpit was enlarged and the convertible top was more leak-proof. The cooling system increased in capacity which eliminated overheating in warm climates. The 1968 Jaguar Series 11/2 E-Type shares the desirable 4.2-liter engine and remarkable body style with its predecessor, he Series I. However, his model, hich fell between the Series I and Series II, eatured open headlights, win Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, win cooling fans and adjustable seats. Although the Series 11/2 shares the Series I's body style, he model which was inducted into the Museum of Modern Art's permanent exhibit, t is actually a transitional series. Far fewer of the Series 11/2 were actually manufactured from 1967-68. At only 1,942 units, ith 771 being convertibles this particular model is one of the most rare E-Types produced since its premiere in 1961. On its release Enzo Ferrari called it "The most beautiful car ever made"!
