Description of 1966 Jaguar Other XJ13 Replica Project (Tempero built)

This is the last of seven Jaguar XJ13 replicas built by master craftsmen Errol and Rod Tempero at Tempero Motor & Coach Co, td, n Oamaru, ew Zealand, ow Rod Tempero Motor Body Builder, td. Rod Tempero
This car was originally commissioned by Australian Jaguar enthusiast Aaron Lewis. I bought the unfinished project in late 2007. Aaron later purchased the #2 Tempero XJ13, nd presents it here for Car Torque TV in Australia. Quoting Aaron,"This is a mythical car." Aaron Lewis XJ13 on Car Torque TV
When this, he #7 car arrived in the US in early 2008 it was nearly finished, eeding only a fuel injection system and completion of the interior. The sale was brokered by a Phoenix based Jaguar shop which is no longer in business. Although shipped in its own sea container, he car was very lightly damaged in transit. See the last three photos in this listing that show the damage. SPECIFICALLY: The car was shipped with temporary tube struts in place of the shock absorbers. The left rear strut failed and the inner fender well was resting on the left rear tire when the container arrived in Phoenix. The upper suspension arms slightly dented the aluminum bulkhead between the left rear tire and the engine compartment, ormally visible only when the wheel and tire are removed. Another temporary strut, isible in one photo, as fabricated in order to roll the car out of the shipping container. Externally there was a small indentation to the right rear of the body, ext to the tail light. From thescuff markson the coating inside the left wheel well, t appears that the shop's personnel attempted to push the car out of the container before noticing the failed temporary tube strut. The indentation was likely caused by one of the shop's employees pushing too hard against the resistance of the left rear wheel on the inside fender. This indentation should be easily repairable by "dent-busters" techniques. For many more photos of this incident, lease click on the link to photos, elow.
Without prior authorization, he broker's shop completely disassembled the car, ncluding the race-prepared engine, nder the pretext of inspecting for additional damage. This restorer/broker filed bankruptcy and although I was able to retrieve the monocoque, t took years to recover the loose parts. Although most parts were meticulously bagged and tagged, ome parts turned up missing duringthechaos leading to this shop's bankruptcy. Parts known to be not recovered are the steering wheel, tarter, nstruments, lutch & flywheel, nd oil pump mounting brackets. This is a very abbreviated account of what happened at thisnow-defunt shop, ut I will gladly give prospective buyers the full story.

The body/chassis is an all-aluminum monocoque, onstructed in the same manner as the original 1966 Jaguar XJ13. Front suspension is from an E-Type as per the original, nd the rear suspension is slightly improved from the original - see Peter Wilson's description of this in the book pages photos posted here. XJ13 enthusiasts know that the original XJ13 has an experimental quad-cam V-12 engine and that only a small number of quad-cams were built, ach one different from the others. Like most XJ13 replicas this car has a twin-cam production Jaguar V12. The transaxle is also per the original, five-speed ZF 5DS-25-2.
