Description of 1964 Jaguar E-Type |
Incredibly beautiful 1964 Jaguar XKE 3. 8L Series 1 E-type Verified by its corresponding Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate. this outstanding ‘Series I’ Roadster from 1964 was originally finished in black with red upholstery. It retains the original matching numbers drivetrain. including the fully-rebuilt 3. 8-liter DOHC ‘six’ and the original. non-synchronized four-speed Moss gearbox. The E-type clearly benefits handsomely from a complete dis-assembly and frame-off restoration that was completed during 2011. with only an approximate 1000 miles of use ever since. All components. including the wiring harness. brakes. exhaust. and others were replaced with factory items and the E-Type retains the original gauges. factory radio. owners’ manual and the highly sought after tool kit. Some Specific Jaguar Information:Based upon a rigid steel monocoque passenger compartment and tail section with the front suspension mounted upon a front subframe. the new E-Type was clearly descended from the glorious D-Type sports racer which dominated Le Mans during the 1950s. winning there for three consecutive years from 1955 through 1957. The E-Type’s advanced and effective independent rear suspension was elegantly designed by Jaguar engineer Bob Knight and proven on the E1A. also known as ‘XKE-101’ and the E2A sports-racer campaigned at Le Mans in 1960 by Team Cunningham. A highly functional and attractive interior and the well-developed 3. 8-liter DOHC ‘XK’ engine inherited directly from the outgoing XK150S made the E-Type an ideal two-place Grand Touring car. Delivering breathtaking performance to match its appearance. the E-type was the first series-production sports car to break the magic 150-mph speed barrier.
