Description of 1959 Jaguar XK XK 150 Drophead Coupe

Hello and thank you for viewing our auction for this stunningly beautiful 1959 Jaguar XK 150. It is finished in black over red leather / carpet with a camel cloth top. To say this amazing motorcar is breathtaking from every angle. would be an understatement. Anyone who knows and appreciates vintage Jaguars knows just how rare these fine XK 150's are. This one was bought by its current owner 38 years ago. We are uncertain how many owners it had prior to that. Also. we are uncertain of the actual mileage. About ten years ago. the car was given a complete restoration. This is not a show car. but a strong example of an excellent driver. The paint is starting to show its age (i. e. bubbling and pulling in certain areas on the side panels and boot). However. the body is in excellent condition and the paint continues to have a nice gloss to it. There are no dents or scrapes on the body. whatsoever. The body is rust free. as well. The chrome bumpers are very shiny and are free of any dents. Only a few pits to speak of on the front and rear bumpers. The grille is in excellent condition. with zero pits. The 'Leaper' is in outstanding condition. The trim that runs across the boot and hood are in fair condition with minor pitting. The boot handle is in excellent condition. with only minor pitting. The chrome trim around the taillamp lenses is in excellent condition. with no pitting. The chrome trim around the side glass and windshield is in poor condition. with major pitting. The chrome trim surrounding the headlamp. fog lamp. driving lamp and turn signal lenses is in good shape. with no pitting. The windshield and side window glass is in fair condition. with minor pitting and scratches. The chrome wire wheels are in superb condition. with no damage to speak of. The spinners on these wheels have a bit of rash. The BF Goodrich tires are in excellent condition with no dry rot and very little tread wear. The taillight and reverse light lenses are in excellent condition with no cracks. The front headlamp. fog lamp and turn signal marker lenses are in excellent condition. The convertible top is in need of some work. The exterior / interior cloth is immaculate and free of any wear. or tears. However. the rear plastic window is scarred in several places and the zipper does not fit properly. In addition. the seals do not fit properly. Allow me to say that even though the exterior of this beauty has imperfections. she still looks amazing. And from a short distance. she looks near perfect. Now. let's proceed to the interior. Well. it is almost immaculate. minus some wear on the front leather seating surfaces. The door panels are solid. with zero wear. The dash and instrument cluster leather are in immaculate condition. The leather on the rear seats is 100% perfect. The front seats are in above average condition. with only minor wear on the bolster surfaces. The carpeted areas and carpeted mats are 100% flawless and fresh. There are ZERO tears / rips to be found on any of the interior surfaces of this Jaguar. There is NO discoloration of any of the red surfaces. The gauges and buttons are all in excellent condition. The chrome trim on the door panels and instrument cluster panel is in good condition. with very few pits. The steering wheel and steering column are in excellent condition. The center Jaguar emblem beneath the horn button is a bit cracked. The heat functions as it should. The boot is in excellent condition. as well as the rubber boot mat. Please note in the photos that a two-piece set of custom made matching luggage is included with car. The spare tire / spare wire wheel and all tools are intact. The underside of the car is relatively clean and free of any rust. However. there are a few minor corrosion spots. The frame is solid and in excellent condition. The engine bay is clean. The serial plate is clean and the numbers are legible. As with any classic automobile. there is some oil seepage. All electrical and mechanical components function as they should. A thorough inspection of this XK 150 was just completed by one of our master European service technicians. He spent 3. 5 weeks going through the car and addressing issues to make her the stellar roadworthy motorcar that she is today. The current owner wanted to make certain this Jaguar XK 150 is in excellent condition before passing her along to the new owner. He is sad to see this car go. but thrilled to find her a new home. Certain health conditions prohibit him from comfortably entering / exiting and driving this fine motorcar any longer. Below is a listing of the issues that were addressed. and parts that were replaced:- Complete Vehicle Service (Including oil service. fluid check. filter inspection. grease all fittings)- Replaced Coolant Hoses. Repaired Coolant Drain Valve. Pressure Tested System- Replaced Ignition Coil and Checked Ignition System- Installed New Spark Plugs. Checked Valve Clearance. Adjusted Ignition Points- Synchronized and Adjusted Carburetors- Installed New Brake Hoses. Installed Front and Rear Caliper Repair Kits. Adjusted Parking Brake- Installed Front and Rear Brake Pads. Flushed Brake SystemShe fires up strong and idles nicely. She runs and drives in a solid and spirited manner. as only a vintage Jaguar should.
