Description of 1991 Jaguar XJS V12 Convertible

**Please contact us for a link to our complete photo set and all included documentation. **Jaguar, through the years, has always had to benchmark their line of sports cars. At LeMans when the C-Type won but became outdated, the D-Type was introduced, then the E-Type came, and was further developed as the years went on in Series 1, 2, and 3. By the time the 1970's came around Jaguar needed a replacement and so the Jaguar XJS debuted in 1975....It was produced in 3-different stages, with nearly 115,413 examples built until its replacement by the XKS in 1996. They were built in Coupe, Convertible and even Targa variants (XJ-SC). Power came from both 6-cylinder to 12-cylinder powertrains on and off over the course of production. Overall they did have a 20+ year run, longer than any other Jaguar Sports Car, which has sealed its place in history as one of Jaguars most popular and best selling examples. The car on offer is a 1991 Jaguar XJS Convertible, delivered new to a Mr. Sharp of Lewisburg, TN on March 12th 1991. The selling dealer was Troncalli Motors of Roswell, GA. The only receipt we have from Mr. Sharp's ownership is for a recall campaign completed in 1992 at 5,484 miles. Beyond this, little history is known and we believe this example to be a 2 or 3 owner car at the most. We do know that by 2014 it was with a dealer in the Midwest before coming to its most recent Pennsylvania owner in 2015. Upon his acquisition he entrusted the services of Ragtops and Roadsters of Perkasie, PA to complete a comprehensive service, totaling nearly $4,000 in service work completed. The mileage at that time was 17,173, only 400+ miles ago. Today the car shows incredibly well with few cosmetic faults. The paint is undoubtedly original throughout the car as is all of the glass and rubber components. There are minor faults to be found here or there. The front of the car shows some minor imperfections on the hood and front bumper/valence from normal use, very small and not worth addressing. The windshield shows minor delaminating on the edges but is otherwise in good condition. The worst item on the entire car, by far, is the right front fender; rear of the wheel arch, there is a dent and scratch, from what we are not sure. It is likely not worth repairing but the next owner may decide to do so. The blemish is shown in the photos. All of the lights, lenses, chrome trim items and the like are all without fault and in great condition overall. The interior reveals only signs of use, there are no flaws to be noted. Simply put it is as new and without issues with all items in correct working order. The door jams are clean with all VIN stickers in place and no excessive wear noted anywhere. The wood is free of cracks; all of the knobs, pulls, dash top, and various items are as delivered when new without any noted flaws. The trunk shows the same way, VIN stickers in place and without flaws. While the car has 17,000+ miles it shows incredibly well and the condition of the engine bay reflects the care and careful servicing that has been completed over the years. Even though items have likely been serviced as needed anyone who touched the car was clearly careful enough to not disturb the factory finishes, coatings, clamps and positioning of everything. It is as delivered when new and in remarkable condition for the age and miles. Everything appears sealed up with no obvious leaks and nothing out of place with services up-to-date. All factory stickers including VIN stickers are also still in place. Driving this Jaguar XJS is a comforting experience with endless torque and ease of use. This example starts instantly, sounds smooth, idles as normal and holds steady temperature and oil pressure. Gear selection is easy and precise and the engine performs well through the rev range. The brakes are of 1991 technology but work well all things considered and the car sort of lumbers along with good power, handling, and steering free of any unwanted or concerning noises. The underside is as expected, signs of use but largely original and untouched without any issues to note. No major signs of bottoming out, previous fixes or the like, an honest and original underside. The Jaguar XJS remains the perfect entry-level collector car or the missing piece to any high-quality jaguar or sports car collection. It is a car that will always bring joy to its owner and remain a worthwhile investment as a spectacular example. Offered with all of its original books, jack and spare this XJS is an opportunity worth much consideration.
