Description of 1971 Jaguar E-Type XKE RoadsterE Type |
1971 XKE “E Type” 4.2 Roadster – Silver Over Black. This car has been in the hands of just 2 owners and has covered a mere 28K from new. It was purchased in Rural Texas and stayed there its entire life. There is no rot in the car what so ever, it is a time capsule. The underside of the car is like a museum piece, the twisted wire found on the suspension components from the factory are still present, as are the original ball joints (still have grease nipples on the bottom sides unlike todays replacements). All paint markings on shocks and springs are present and correct. The car is supplied with the glovebox handbook, British Leyland “Passport to Service” Booklet, and also in the glovebox remains the insurance card from back in the day. This is a Roadster with two tops, the rear trim for the hardtop is included an in near perfect condition… All switch gear, dials and trim inside the cabin are very nice indeed. The motor starts and runs and idles nicely and has great oil pressure. All wiring harness in the engine bay still retains all factory clips, it looks like it just left the factory. The Spare Wheel and Tool Kit/Knock Off Tool are where they belong in what can only be described as a time capsule trunk area. The paint in the Trunk is like the day it left the factory, reference grade quality this… As you can see the paint has some patina to it, as a result of its prolonged life in the Texas climate. The head liner in the Hardtop is I believe the best original example I have personally viewed, there is even a sticker from the Fort Worth Counter part of the original supplying dealer under the hood for an oil change in late 1970! You can buy a restoration E Type pretty much anywhere in today’s market, but you will be hard pushed to find such a nice, honest survivor car as this to start with.If you do not own a welder, then this car is for you! This car has a late build date of 8-70 and represents one of the last 4.2 Roadsters made for the US market and was sold new at Overseas Motors of Houston on the 27 of October 1970. It is a fully numbers matching example and we believe is one of the best XKE’s on offer not just in the US but in the world today. A thoroughly original example with paperwork to boot and low miles.
